My son and I decided that this year we'd visit all the (Preservation Society) Newport Mansions. Chepstow is a large house, but is feels like a "home" Some of the Mansions look like a museum, wonderful; but large and imposing. Chepstow feels like the owners...More

The home was very beautiful. The tour was great. It was a large home but seemed very friendly and comfy.

Fortunately Chepstow was deeded to the Preservation Society of Newport County while the last of the family was still living there. The feeling you have with your visit is one of visiting friends and not a museum. Yes the house was built in 1860, and...More

Chepstow was an amazing, quirky, wonderful home. As it was lived in until 1997, there is this wonderful history meets modern feel to the house that you don't really get elsewhere. Nancy was lively, humerus, and an overall amazing guide.

This house is on the smaller side yet is very charming and more livable than other mansions such as the breakers, it is not as over the top as a gilded aged mansion. We were able to connect with the former inhabitants during the tour....More

Smaller mansion. The garden in front of this Mansion is so beautiful and adds to the beauty of the Mansion.

While in the area we toured this mansion. The tour guide was knowledgeable with the history of this mansion. She allowed lots of time to look around and ask question.

When we drove up I thought the house was a bit small in comparison to some of the other cottages such. While it is smaller it was occupied until a much later date and the furnishings and lifestyle are much more relatable. I don’t have...More

Chepstow is a great mansion to visit for those who enjoy guided tours. That is the only way to see the mansion. It is an interesting home and great to see if one buys a multi-mansion ticket or membership.
