Mind blowing collection that other venues have line ups to glimpse!!! From Aristotle to Mark Twain Shakespeare: see original documents !!!! We were stunned...plus it is FREE and the current featured exhibit on books that changed science has a play area in full sight for kids who get restless.

Buffalo's Central Library houses a climate-controlled room dedicated to Mark Twain. Why? Because the manuscript to Huckleberry Finn, arguably the most important American novel ever written, is right here in Buffalo. Mark Twain spent 18 months in Buffalo prior to his marriage and the first year of his marriage to Olivia Langdon. When you visit the Library, you'll discover how... More

It's a library... a city library... a main branch city library. It's a DARN IMPRESSIVE LIBRARY! Kinda modern, but that's ok. When we stopped in just to check it out they had two different historical special displays - one concerning Mark Twain and the other centering upon Shakespeare. For FREE... ya can't beat it!

There are great seminars at the library with good sound systems and very knowledgeable speakers. The library itself is very nice inside and easy to get around. There is even a great space to enjoy a cup of coffee and a light meal. The outside really distracts from the public spaces. Downtown is comprised of handsome older structures and this... More

The Central Library is a large, beautiful library. The Mark Twain room is a must-see. They have a huge selection and anything you need can be retrieved via inter library loan. The facilities are clean and well organized. Staff are friendly. They have a nice cafe as well. It's really so much more than a library. Even if you don't... More

The Buffalo Library seems to have adapted to the 21st century very well. Computers, media, and the latest books. Their collection of Mark Twain and historic books on the first floor is charming and easy to enjoy. But we were genuinely surprised by the number of exciting things that are available there now. We took small children to their children's... More

I live withing three blocks of the library and go there often. I'm an author and an avid reader...and now I have discovered some of the crafts that are offered. My 4 year old grandson has enjoyed exploring new ways to enjoy books as well. Come on downtown.

The main branch of the library is across the street from the Hotel Lafayette, which is absolutely beautiful, with a mosaic floor over the entire downstairs lobby area, and large murals that appear to be inlaid wood. It is also across the street from Lafayette Square, with a very tall monument and great view of downtown Buffalo. In the library,... More
