Pleasant way to spend a few hours

Small zoo, but well planned, with interesting displays. Some areas closed off for renovations. Worth a visit, specially with children.

Great For The Whole Family!
Sep. 2021
Let me first start by saying if you're looking for a high tech, modern zoo this probably isn't for you. If you're looking for a beautiful, fun, clean and friendly zoo with animals from every corner of the world and staff happy to help, this is the place. We had family from 22 months to 59 years old and we all had a great time. I did deduct a star because many bathrooms are closed which did present a problem for several in the family, the penny press machines are both broken and the 20 oz drinks in the vending machines are $4 a piece- I highly suggest bringing water bottles with you. As far as the complaints about animals sleeping in the afternoon, well, that's what you get at all zoos- more active in the morning and evenings. All 3 generations had a great time and we can't wait to go back.

Pleasant place to visit
Aug. 2021
This zoo is not very big but it is nicely designed. There are short walks between exhibits and it is easy to find animals in their enclosures. I particularly liked the vanishing animals exhibit (maned wolf, Japanese macaques and more). Reptile and amphibian collection is diverse. Rhinos and giraffes are just beautiful. The informational posters were interesting and easy to read (short fun facts rather than long descriptions). The food selection and quality exceeded expectations.

The animals look and are very happy which is what I look for the most in a zoo. Everything is clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful! Don't miss the meerkats!

lots of interactive activities for the youngsters. went in the morning (10 am open) so we could see all of the exhibits. Saw giraffes, rhinos, polar bears and the new lion cubs! zoo can be done in about 2 hours. good parking right on site.

Don't Waste Your Time
Jun. 2021
This was the worst zoo on my 10-day vacation. I counted exactly six animals. Almost every time I approached a cage or exhibit...empty...empty...empty... I counted exactly six animals, including two otters swimming laps that never surfaced because it was too hot outside, a polar bear that was doing Olympic-style backstrokes in the water to try and stay cool, and a bald eagle perched high up. It was a lot of walking to see almost nothing in the oppressive heat and humidity. I think there were more stands for Dippin' Dots at almost every turn, yet no real food. Clearly, this place was not prepared to open up despite the lifting of restrictions in the weeks prior. They had no business being open.

A wonderful Buffalo institution

The Buffalo Zoo is a gem! Two lion cubs and so many more animals to visit. The old historic exhibits/enclosures are updated to provide more space for the animals. The zoo honors membership reciprocity, so our tickets were half price. A great place to spend the afternoon!

Close animal encounters!
Jul. 2021 • Family
Our kids loved it! So many great animal encounters with both outside and indoors viewing areas. Animals are much more close up than our local zoo! Food was good and reasonably priced for lunch too. Nice park that surrounds it for a walk before/after.

Sad zoo
Jul. 2021 • Family
This is one of the saddest zoos I have ever been to. I’m giving this zoo 2 stars for the polar bear exhibit (it just swam I circles). Everything is in cages, looks depressed and small. Every place for children to blow off some steam, closed. The children didn’t seem to mind, but if you’re alright with seeing depressed animals in small cages and that’s if they are even visible; this is the zoo for you.

Lion Cubs!!
Jun. 2021 • Family
I was excited to see a polar bear but the lion Cubs stole the show! The two Cubs were very active and gave everyone a nice show. Mama lion was always close by. The zoo is nice although a few of the enclosures seemed small (birds). $15 per adult
