It was the second stop when we arrived to Flagstaff for our family vacation. We got into our rented Nissan Altima, told Siri were we were going, and took off to Grand Falls. Siri warned us our turn was coming up on the left so...More

I went there just couple days ago. The place is hidden in a private area without paved road. It is a good place to visit but a 4x4 is strong recommended. I went there with my Scion xB. I got into the mud on the...More

The drive isn't bad, might need a 4x4 when it's in the rainy seasons or after the snow melts. When you arrive, you are on Navajo Nation, the tribe has built up the overlook of the falls with a gazebo, restrooms, parking area and there...More

I went there years ago, when it was dry., and it was pretty interesting. This year, after the winter rains, it was flowing a lot of chocolate colored water. I followed my GPS from Flagstaff, and it took us an hour out of our way,...More

I live in the area (Flagstaff) and visited the falls for the first time. The natural scene is greatly worth the trouble, having been created by a volcanic lava flow thousand of years ago causing a bend in the river. If the river is flowing...More

I've wanted to go here for quite some time. My boyfriend surprised me with a trip today and I must say I wasn't disappointed. We came off of I-40 by Holbrook and traveled through the Navajo reservation. Lots of dirt roads, but nothing ridiculously bumpy....More

You don't need a permit for hiking around the falls. I would be respectful when hiking in other areas though because you are on reservation land.

I'm sure if you go when snowing it's not a bad deal but the road is very rough going there when it's not snowing so I cannot imagine what it would be when it is snowing.way worth the drive.
