Traveling across Arizona you cannot help but noticing the peaks. The area is full of dormant volcanoes .. The picturesque mountains are a must see ..

I am amazed each time we round the corner on I17 going north from Phoenix to Flagstaff, in that all of a sudden in front of us looms the majestic San Francisco Peaks, one of the sacred mountains of the Navajo Indians. There is sits, stately and rising out of the flatlands. There is, on the north side, the Snow... More

The view of these peaks was totally a surprise! We had been in Las Vegas where everything is brown and ugly. What a very pleasant surprise to get to Flagstaff and be greeted by these peaks which had recently gotten snow!! And they are visible from many directions! Only wish we would have time to go exploring.

The San Francisco Peaks are located just outside of the beautiful city of Flagstaff, Arizona. The peaks are just under 13,000 feet tall. The Snowbowl Ski Lodge with its lifts an open with the first snow and in the summer the lifts still operate. The peaks have many hiking trails for you to enjoy in the summer. Beautiful place worth... We were staying in Flagstaff so drove out towards the San Francisco Peaks area. This area is a former volcanic area. Humphreys Peak is the tallest at 12,633 feet. There are numerous trails in the area. We did some hiking. The Navajo consider them sacred mountains.

The peaks and the moutains dominate the scene around Flagstaff and are quite different to the country you see to the north and to the south .

Every place we went on our trip to the Grand Canyon, these mountains were in the background. They were beautiful.

I'm amazed to discover we can review something so iconic, so powerful, as the Peaks themselves. My favorite spot in the state; if I ever got a tattoo this silhouette would be it. The highest point in Arizona, with permafrost in places, a sky ride to get to the view you'll never forget...sacred to many First Nations, so I recommend... More
