The Starrigavan Rec Area has 2 hiking trails--Ben Grussendorf trail and Mosquito Cove Trail. There are camp sites and day picnic sites available. Located along the shoreline, its a great place to look at sealife and enjoy the outdoors.

The hiking trail highlights two of Sitka's amazing offerings, rain forest and sea. We were lucky enough to hike during low tide and spent as much time on the beach looking at star fish, crabs, shells, and jelly fish as we did hiking the trail!...More

This is a not so well known place for visitors. It is however a great place to watch the Pink Salmon start their (August) journey up a small creek. The Pink Salmon stack up in the waters waiting for the rain and water to rise....More

We always take a trip here when in town. They have a great boardwalk that goes thru a wetland area. You will see salmon in the creek for most of the summer months and a occasional bear.

We camped at one of the beach spots for three nights during our stay in Sitka. The campground hosts were amazing! We really enjoyed talking to them. This place is a birders paradise!

My husband and I stayed in the cabin for 2 nights. It was beautiful. We hiked the estuary trail and the muskeg trail and they were amazing.

Nice trail entirely on a boardwalk. It was a rainy day during our visit, but it was still a lovely spot. We saw heron, ducks and swans. This was an easy walk with informational placards and seating along the way.

Campsites have nice vegetation between neighbors so you have privacy. We were there in late August and there were few other campers. Friendly and helpful campground host. Great boardwalk trail around the estuary. Other trails too. Camping for hikers, tenters and smaller RVs. No utilities...More
