We dropped into the church whilst strolling around the shops in town. They are an active church they have numerous artefacts and icons which they allow the public to view for a small donation. Worth a look and it supports the church.

After visiting the Russian House, we felt the need to visit the holy cathedral of St. Michael. Our first visit to a Russian Orthodox Church. Many religious icons are present in a very small area. We left with written information regarding this structure and the...More

A true Russian Orthodox cathedral, replete with icons galore, much glitter, many religious paintings. Kind of overwhelming.

This little "Cathedral" is a fun stop when in Sitka, it is small, but has some very old and interesting art. This is a Russian Orthodox church and contains many items from the late 1800s from priests and others. You can learn the history of...More

It's hard to say what this church is like because the minute you step in the door a woman is yelling at you that it is $5 each to come in any further. We turned right around and left.

The Russian Orthodox Cathedral (burnt down in 1967 and rebuilt 10 years later) is a key piece of the history of this area, and in the purchase of "Russia America" by the USA. The cathedral isn't in the best physical condition, and it seems they...More

It was a very old church with some beautiful Russian holy pictures. One picture of the Blessed Mother is a miraculous icon and the church has small cards and postcards of this picture. They are raising money to repair the roof. This small cathedral is...More

Depends on which pier - however as already expressed - you can walk the older part of the town. If you are on a Hawaiian Dream cruise you will be in the town proper them bused to the pier.
