there is fascinating religious history in this region and this simple yet richly decorated Russian Orthodox Church is worth a visit.

We happened by and got a private tour. The history is very interesting but, the artifacts are beyond words. This is a must see place if you are ever in Sitka.

The actual fabric of the building is relatively new, a reconstruction of the burned down original. What really makes the experience very interesting is the superb collection of icons and other Russian artwork. Read the material in there, understand more about the Orthodox church, and realize the early importance of Russia as the first non indigenous invaders of this area

It was very interesting to see. We stayed about 40 min taking in the icons and reading the history of the church.

Nice to come inside and see the artifacts and Russian Orthadox Culture. We had a quick chat with the priest and left a donation.

a re-built Russian Orthodox Church that provides a history of the Russian Era in Sitka. The docent was very informative and explained not only the meaning of the church items but how they relate to the tribal cultures they converted.

This is a rebuilt copy of the church that burned down in Sitka years ago. The community saved a lot of the interior pieces, including many valuable icons several hundred years old. I wish there had been a docent or guide available the day we visited. I would have liked more information about the artwork. There is a $5.00 per... More

My wife and I walked from the Bishop's house to the cathedral and were amazed at the beautiful form and interior of this church which was rebuilt from the original after a fire in the 1960's destroyed it. Walk at your own pace and view the art, architecture, and history at the center of the Russian Orthodox Church in America
