A relatively small church even though it seems to have been given cathedral status. Seemingly in permanent need of restoration hence the need to charge so much for entry. I don't understand how churches can be houses of God and yet there is an expectation...More

The cathedral, built when Sitka was the Russian capital is still active and very interesting historically as well as for the fine icons.

Though not the original (which burned down in the 60s) it has original artifacts and is built as it was. Undergoing some reconstruction but easily assessable Students are free and adults 5 bucks. It is worth a quick visit

Loved the Sunday AM service, so to see it all in action. Ritualistic but that's how they like to worship here. Natives and locals, with a few visitors like us thrown in there. 1 1/2 hr service. Interesting to see the adults not bothered by...More

Lovely historical church, with lots of icons and statues. Very different looking for a church and we enjoyed learing about the early settlement of Russians in Sitka. Beautiful relics

This church is being restored which is wonderful. They charge $5 to see the inside which is going toward the renovation. Now, buckets are on the floor catching the leaks in the ceiling.

The guide was very knowledgeable, interesting and shared interesting stories about the church. He also explained Orthodox Christianity and its long history.

This cathedral was on a much smaller, intimate scale compared to most I have visited. Its interior objects are mostly original. The building was reconstructed according to the original drawings following a devastating fire ~50 years ago.

Depends on which pier - however as already expressed - you can walk the older part of the town. If you are on a Hawaiian Dream cruise you will be in the town proper them bused to the pier.
