If you want an easy trail that is beautiful try totem park. Just be sure to study the map because it's easy to get turned around in the maze of trails. But, not to worry you are never far from a main road. You will see totems, water and if you are lucky our famous Mt Edgecumbe!

The visitors center is very good. We met a carver one day and a salmon skin tanner the next day. The hike on the trail to see the totem poles is beautiful, and it is a popular public trail. A bald eagle flew to one of the sitka spruce trees on the trail while we were there. We came back... More

We had only a few hours stop in Sitka whilst traveling from on the Marine Hwy ferry Skagway to Wrangell and unfortunately it was not long enough to to fully explore the park and make the most of the Visitors Centre. It was a beautiful walk along a wide, flat path through towering hemlock and spruce trees, made all the... More

From the centre of town (ie. the Information Centre), the walk to Totem Park is an easy 10-15 minute fairly flat walk around the waters edge until you reach the park. The centre there had interesting artifacts but it is located right on the forest's edge with story poles (totem poles) outside and in. If you walk past the centre... More

Great place to visit. Very informative and the walk through the Totem Poles is just beautiful. The trees are breathtaking too.

Great totem poles and a wonderful place for local history. A fun walk. Guided vocal tour by phone. The center has unique items from years past.

This is a must see and do if you are in Sitka. The trails and views are beautiful but more importantly is the history provided along the way. It is still wild enough that wildlife is everywhere.

I made my way here on a slightly rainy/misty morning. I didn't get to see all of the totems because of a series of races being held where the participants were running the forest trails near the museum. I did enjoy the few that I did get to see, and the museum itself was very nice. I wish the gift... More

We walked here from the cruise ship docks along a very nice waterfront paved walkway. The place is full of local information and totems on display. We especially enjoyed the displays on how totems are carved. Rangers and volunteers were very helpful.
