We've experienced this park during summer, fall, and winter. Although we are not hikers, merely stopping and enjoying the views along the road to the ski valley is a treat, especially during the fall when the aspens are in full glory.

About 7.5 miles up the mountain you will find a snow board rental facility. Pay 5 dollars to the park near the flag pole and move to the sledding behind the rental facility. There are three runs to enjoy and we loved it.

We were in Santa Fe for a week and needed some real exercise, not just happen to walk 10,000 steps, so sought out some local hiking. My wife read about a set of trails just on the outskirts of our side of town so we headed that way. We were looking for the trail head but instead got distracted by... More

Hyde park is located only 15 mins from downtown Santa Fe, and offers a multitude of hiking and mountain biking trails, from esy to difficult. There are two camping areas nearby for walk-in tent camping up to RV supported sites. Evergreens mix with Aspens to create a wonderful ecosystem for a short of whole day hike.

Spent 4 days on the mountain. Snow was a bit sparse, but being so close to Santa Fe has its perks. Buy your ticket with rentals and lesson included if you are a beginner as this is a great deal. Kids ski school is also great but make sure to call in advance as they book up early. You can... More

We were so thrilled to have accidentally timed our visit to Santa Fe during the peak of the turning of the aspens. You can see their glorious golden color from the city and could only imagine who spectacular they'd be up close. So, the family we were visiting drove us up to Aspen View Picnic Area and . . .... Hyde Memorial State Park is a glow with Color in the Fall. The Aspen trees glow yellow, all along the drive through the park. Very scenic road, with access on side of road to pull over and take pictures. Be careful at dusk, the mule deer are on the move, we saw several, so amazing.

I think there's a ranger station and bathroom but I've never stopped there. Quite a number of beautiful woodsy hikes start from pullouts in the park, and that's pretty much the point. You can go for miles, but just a short distance from the road you'll find yourself in rustic paradise. Only a short drive to escape Santa Fe.

My friends and I are in good shape, and we found the East-West Loop trail HARD. Be ready for some climbs. It was absolutely beautiful at the top.
