It took a lot to convince me to drink any other bourbon outside of Kentucky. However, the Ranger Creek 36 is one of my favorite bourbons. They also surprise us every quarter with their special Whiskey Club members-only liquors and barrel tasting. The beer is awesome too and the staff is friendly. They also have at least one featured food truck. We had lobster rolls from Masshole Lobster Food Truck, which paired well with their Love Struck hefe. They also had half-price Old Fashioneds in observance of National Bourbon Day. My wife and I go as often as we can. Last but not least, I bought my third bottle of their Ranger Creek .36 Single Barrel Straight Bourbon Whiskey, at 107 proof, aged for 4 years, 2 months in our hot Texas climate. This is one of the best bourbons I ever had, and my go-to. This is not only the best Texas Bourbon, but one of the best American Bourbons.

Ranger Creek is a “Must See/Do”. San Antonio is known for a lot of things but Ranger Creek is putting it on the map with their out of sight whiskeys. Smooth, drinkable, and full of flavor, I wanted to try them all! On fridays and saturdays you’ll have to check out their cocktails. If liquor isn’t for you, try their awesome beer or food trucks! The tasting room has great atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will be coming back in the future!

Having been on multiple brewery tours at both macro and craft breweries I will say that this is by far the most educational and exceptional tour I have ever taken. While most tours at other places are free this one is not. However, for only 10 dollars you get 2 full pours of their current beers and either another full beer pour or a group whiskey tasting, You also get to keep the mason jar Ranger Creek glass that you use for tasting. The family including Col. Mac and Mark present a very informational tour. They will detail the process of brewing and distilling and how they differ. They also explain why they are different from most brewers (all Texas ingredients). All the staff are incredibly courteous, welcoming, and appreciative. If i could write a more glowing rating and rate higher than a 5 I definitely would. This is a must-do in San Antonio that I would recommend to the most serious beer/whiskey fan or just someone looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon. Cheers to the Ranger Creek family and prost!

I applaud you for addressing customer concerns and taking the high road. While there can always be differing opinions it’s good to see businesses concerned about their customers. SMH TCA allows hundreds of unlicensed volunteers to pour drinks for event attendees everyday. No one want you to suffer any harm to what you’ve worked so hard for. We appreciated the brewery’s glass that we were given at the beginning of the tour, but we didn’t want the glass we were given for the beer tasting tour, and left the glass with the receptionist. She probably forgot, and misinformed you. We wish you well and much success, your place appeared to have a lot of work put into it, and everyone seemed to have been enjoying themselves.

This looks like a great tour, but we never got past the first taste of beer. The brewery appears to have had some bad customer experiences that cause innocent customers to catch the brunt of whatever happened in the past.

We approached a receptionist who was kind enough to give us an idea of what to expect, but because the last tour was well past the mid way point we were told to get a beer and catch up with the tour. Great! Right? Well not so quick. My husband was honest with the receptionist and said he really came to taste the whiskey, which she quickly assumed meant he wanted a sample of the samples she was was preparing for an event at 5pm. Her comment was, "Sir please don't ask me for a sample...". My husband quickly corrected her and told her that he didn't asked her to give him anything, but was there to participate with the whiskey tasting, She recognize that she was mistaken.

We bought two tickets, $10 each- one for my husband and one for me to just tag along, I don't drink. She told my husband to make a stop and get a beer, and afterward catch up with the tour, on our own. Upon reaching the first stop, my husband was getting a beer, when a guy rushed up and jumped down his throat in front of all these people, telling him he couldn't get his own drink. As though, my husband was stealing. We explained that the receptionist told him to get his drink and then catch up with the tour. She never offered to get his drink. There were no signs, no one was there to give us instructions, nothing to tell us we couldn't get the beer ourselves. We were there because we were told that we could get a beer, no one told us to wait on someone to help us, and there were no attendee in sight , nor was there a sign to tell us to wait for an attendee. We wouldn't have had a problem waiting, but remember we needed to catch up with a tour that was now 3/4 of the way over.

It was very clear that the guy could not see things from our perspective, he just continued on with his lecture, explaining why my husband couldn't get his own drink even though the receptionist gave us bad instructions. The receptionist even came over rolling her eye to tell us that we should have known better and asked if my husband had a TABC license, to which my husband said "yes," which he has had for the last 20+ years with Fiesta. No apology from her.

Putting us in this totally humiliating position in front of all these strangers, my husband was a bit upset. This all escalades the situation to the point that some people on the tour felt compelled to add their input, which causes my husband to feel like he has to defend himself by explaining what has happened over and over. The guy finally gets smart and apologizes for the miscommunication. We left feeling that the guy and the receptionist felt that their actions were justified. Oblivious to what my husband and I had endured. We finally just left with our refund.

Suggestion: Put a sign up telling people to wait to be served by one of your staff, or perhaps the receptionist could have poured up my husband's beer. She certainly had time to come over and add insult to injury, by roll her eye at us.

The only reason I'm sharing this is because, as business owners we can escalate or de-escalate a problem. When given the choice my husband and I follow the rules. Just keep it simple, let your customers in on what they are. Have a nice day and have a beer and a sample of the whiskey for us.

Monica, thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry that you and your husband felt embarassed. I am one of the owners, and I was at the tap wall when your husband was discussing the situation with my employee Matt. We do regularly tell people to "get a beer", but we've never had to post a sign telling them not to pour the beer themselves. If we have had to correct folks, they are typically quick to understand that they should not be pouring their own beer. I'm sure you can understand that it's a serious liability issue for us. I apologize for the misunderstanding on a very busy Saturday, but three of us tried to resolve the situation and it was unclear how to make things right with your husband. Sorry you had to leave with your full refund, but please enjoy the mason jar glass that you took with you on me.

I booked this for my boyfriend who liked the tour. You receive a glass and a couple of refill beers for $10.00. Since I do not drink I received a glass and a can coke for $5.00. I have been on several tours here in the US and in Europe so I can say that this is a very basic tour with one of the owners explaining how beer is made. Nice guy who drank during the tour (as did almost everyone else except me and the multiple kids). Mostly young crowd (but well behaved).

The tour was very informative and fun at the same time. We really enjoyed our visit and ended up staying the whole afternoon at the brewery. For 10$ you got lots of information, good beer/whiskey and a nice cup to take home as a souverir. I would say it was money well spent and the tour was one of the best, if not the best, I have ever taken!

Although it may not be much to look at from the outside, Ranger Creek is an amiable and pleasant brewery/distillery to visit. I went on one of the Saturday tours with a friend of mine and was pleased with the knowledge of the staff. When they say that there is beer tasting on the tour, they mean that they will serve you full glasses from the tap - how generous! Would recommend to natives or visitors!

Great place, the beer was awesome, great flavor. The Bourbon was even better. If you get a chance to visit this place, you will not be disappointed.
