Yes, this is a culinary school restaurant, but this is not amateur hour. Incredible menu, you cannot make a bad choice. Great service. Fabulously inexpensive. This was perhaps the best meal we've had in a week in San Antonio

July 19, 2016, myself and eleven ladies made reservations at Nao, Culinary Institute at 5;30PM. When we arrived our table was not ready. Once seated we had to make the decision between Family Style or individual menu orders. Family Style is available only if everyone at the table participates. Decision made: Family Style which includes three family style small plates... More

We started the evening at the bar .... drinks awesome - bar keepers attitude leaves room for improvement Then we were seated at a nice table ... hostess was great - interior design lacks a little inspiration The food was exciting and exceptionally good; we tried new things and had a good time. Also the information about food/wines was really... More

Here they offer some classes for lovers of cooking. Generally the class has 10 people with a Chef instructor. You can get the feeling of working in a restaurant, and try to be a chef for the day.

It is not easy to design a course with students who have a wide range of skills and experience, but the Institute pulled it off. I took the classic and contemporary sauces class and we had plenty of demos, time to cook, and most importantly -time to eat! Support staff was veryhelpful and I can't think of one thing they... Nao had interesting food, but not as creative as I would have thought. The service was very average.

Quite impressive! Now to be honest I was a fan of the original Nao as well. But chef Garza hasn't disappointed with the new version either. 1. Style: The stye is very cool. They didn't make much of a decor change with the new Nao. The same cool, upscale south/central american decor is spot on. You feel like you're in... More

We attended a special version of chef demos for the Arriba del Norte celebration. The first was Jerky to Charcuterie with Chef McHugh from Cured making mustard with dark beer, pickled okra and country pate. Full of interesting details about curing meat and how his restaurant came to be, Chef McHugh kept us entertained. I was eager to try to... More

If you are into cooking, baking, food in general.. you need to stop here. If you are really into it.. look into the Boot Camp classes. Completely and totally awesome. I attended the Baking and Pastry camp and it is well worth the money. I learned more than I ever thought and the best part was tasting everything! The instructors... More
