Lackland AFB is the only basic training location for the US Air Force. It actually consists of a number of bases in San Antonio that were consolidated during a BRAC. While a large portion of the base is dedicated to basic training and tech schools, the base is still a functioning air base so you can regularly see F-16 fighters... More

Be prepared for crazy driving but the people at The AFB are so friendly. Only one gate off Military drive that we could find was open after hours

As a retired Air Force member, I'm not sure how to really describe this place to average tourists. Generally it is open to the public only when basic training students graduate en masse, or there is an air show. It's a fine base -- but can be a bit confusing if you are lost or looking for a particular building... More

Lackland AFB is the perfect base for visitors who are not familiar with the military to get a good feel for what our military is all about...excellence, service and national pride. The base is clean, organized and everyone is helpful and respectful. One can see trainees all over, marching in formation. One can also see the senior military personnel in... More

All personnel were respectful and helpful! This base represents God and Country. I was humbled by the respect and tradition exemplified in all interactions.

I couldn't wait to see Lackland AFB again after all the years gone by. It was not the base I remembered. All new buildings and many enhancements had been made. There are museums to visit and memorials to see. Having been a K-9 handler I was most interested in the War Dog Memorial just off the parade field and the... More

The Airmen's Run, Coin Ceremony & Parade were all Amazing. Well executed but more seating for the Parade would've been nice. Most of the staff at the "Malls" are friendly & helpful. The food is...OK, I would recommend eating off base or packing a lunch. Grounds are clean
