We spent the Christmas holiday near Lackland due to my son graduating from JBSA Lackland. We had a great time walking around base and going in the exchange.

They put on an excellent graduation event, it's like a well oiled machine! Enjoyed our Airman's graduation and events.

Lackland is like a little community with schools and a hospital. It is clean and easy to get around. The security is nice and helpful. There is plenty to eat and shopping is ample. They have a theater, bowling, salons and churches as well.

Base is huge, make sure your GPS is working! Very nice though. Be prepared to walk a long distance while visiting your airman.

My husband graduated from boot camp in 1962 from Lackland. We enjoyed a tour of the base from our son's friend and even attended the Airman's Retreat. Made me proud to be an American.

The best thing to do is call the base directory. The operator will direct your call. Most bases have areas to "store" these items but I don't think they offer any stations for hooking up electricity or water. If you're a... More
