Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We have been seeing more shows at the majestic lately, and I’m wondering when it will be refreshed.
The seats are uncomfortable and poorly placed, such that you spend the entire time shifting in your seat for comfort or just to see the stage. The sound system also needs improvement.

I’m so glad San Antonio is attracting top notch performances...now if the once-beautiful Majestic could just be a top notch venue again...

The Jesus Christ Superstar was Terrible!!
1.5 hours of songs (literally) with no intermission.
cast is onstage using wired mics ... ZERO dialog or character development
i cant believe they would charge people to endure this!

Don't waste your money !!

Note: This review is not based on the quality of the programs, rather, it is about the place and the location of the place in town.

The two theatres are located in the heart of downtown San Antonio on Houston Street and St. Mary's Street. If you do not have time to attend an event (in my case, I did not), it is worth to look around for photos. The two historic theaters are now now in full operation and has been nationally recognized landmarks. These two theaters homes for Broadway series and other entertainments. Glad they were revived back to full operation.

Not only do they still require masks, the staff is very rude about it. They were actually yelling at the people to put masks on while we were leaving the theatre. Also ushers were walking thru the aisles checking people. This makes for a very hostile and unpleasant atmosphere. This is very sad because it is a wonderful venue, otherwise.
Masks should be optional.

The seats are so close together that you are almost on top of the person next to you. No elbow room, nothing! Some of the staff is rude. So disappointing that they have metal detectors and search your purse! $14.00 dollars for a small plastic cup of wine? Outrageous! The sound system was horrible! Very poorly managed!

First night of visit to San Antonio, my host took me to enjoy Wicked at the Majestic. Traffic was congested, homeless were present, a young man ‘coming off of drugs’ was across the street yelling at air. But the minute I stepped in, all that vanished and the beauty of design and architecture revealed itself. The show was entertaining but often I caught myself just looking at the stunning surroundings, a must see for those visiting the city.

Just saw Jesus Christ Superstar. Favorite all-time musical. The staging, musicians dancers and singers were over the top fantastic! Acoustics were excellent. The venerable old remodeled Majestic (thank you McCombs) is a beauty harking back to the early 20th century architecture. Awesome night! Know a little about Superstar before you go. It is not for everyone. But if you are a fan get ready for your best concert in years!

We went to the Majestic Theatre to see one of our favorite comedians, Sebastian Monasclaco. He certainly didn’t disappoint. It’s an older place so a little wear and tear. The price of drinks was astronomical. My glass of wine was around $20.

Beautiful theatre! We walked up on a whim to see Pretty Woman and didn't regret a thing. We had upper-level tickets, but our view and sound were still fine. We entered about an hour early and enjoyed getting to know our neighbors. Price was great and we didn't have fees with the on-site purchase.

The theater is absolutely beautiful. We have been there a few times and it was wonderful. We went for a concert again. This time the sound system was horrible! We were on the third row and could not understand a single thing. The speakers were just blasting and screeching. So sad. I was so excited to see and hear the concert. It was ruined..
