What a professional presentation of the history of this lovely city -- from the early 1800s to the present. The Alamo may be the center of the city's past, but it was so helpful to have the Alamo put into the context that made it all so much more meaningful. Far too interesting to call this walking tour "too much... More

Our family loves history, and so, I thought the Alamo tour would be perfect for our family. Sadly it turned out to be one of the low points of our vacation to Texas. As an earlier reviewer pointed out, Gary's canned delivery style and insistence on no interruptions made it difficult to establish rapport and follow his train of thought.... More

The tour was definitely very educational since I admittedly didn't know much about San Antonio history. I would definitely not recommend this tour for children because it won't keep their attention. I am glad that it wasn't just Alamo history, but an overall history of the area. We didn't go through the Alamo while on tour; you have to do... More

We love to travel and learn. Gary, our tour guide, brought the history of San Antonio alive with his wealth of information on the peoples of this area. We took our tour the first morning after our arrival in town. Afterwards, we were equiped with the knowledge we needed to tour the Alamo.

Excellent private guided tour for two hours at a very good price. A must when you visit San Antonio. Gary was our tour guide and he was great!

This +2 hr walking tour is something I would highly recommend to anyone visiting San Antonio. Fully expecting it to be a glorified "Alamo history" tour, we were extremely pleased to instead be treated to an indepth story of the surrounding neighborhoods of the city, the people, and the influence of many cultures coming together to make San Antonio a... This should be called "San Antonio Stands". There is very little walking. The tour guide talks for 10-20 minutes at a time, insisting on no interruptions or questions until his canned spiels are finished. Most of the places the tour stops are blocks from the buildings he discusses. "If you look down the street, you can see the church in... More

We found this tour here on TripAdvisor. Our guide, Gary, gave us a detailed, in-depth narrative on the history of San Antonio and its place in the history of Texas. He makes the Alamo literally come alive with his stories: the events that led up to the famous battle, the battle itself, and its aftermath. By the time you walk... More

Gary provided a fascinating, information rich tour of key points in San Antonio history. He really brought the city to life! The walk is less than a mile long, so not too difficult. I also appreciated that each time we stopped to talk, Gary was conscious of the hot sun and found shady spots for us to stand in. If... More

The Walking Tour is astonishing in its completeness on not only the history of San Antonio as it relates to The Alamo, but the mix of immigrants that have influenced this wonderful city. Don't worry about the "walking" part. Check the weather, and if a nice cloudy day is an option, select it; but on our hot, hot day, we... More
