Even if you don't want to go into the gallery, go to walk the grounds. It is, in a word, beautiful. With it's expansive lawns, flowers, fountains and pond, it is a great place to visit.

Went here after many years to see exhibition of French art. Was surprised at new addition which adds to museum without detracting from old mansion charm.

The collection at the McNay Museum is really excellent. It is definitely worth the trip away from downtown. Right now there is a fabulous temporary exhibit on Impressionism on display. The building and grounds in and of itself are beautiful. It's a unique art museum, in that I would recommend going on a day when the weather is actually good!

Nice museum. The permanent exhibition is mostly modern and contemporary art, and a little bit of classic religious art. The architecture of the Spanish colonial style house is awesome and the gardens surrounding the property are very nice. Right now there is a special exhibition 'Monet to Matisse'. There is free parking for patrons. No cafeteria, just vending machines so... More

My sister and I planned to attend the exhibition of Matisse that we read about in Toronto, so this was marked as must on our itinerary. The grounds of a former wealthy businessman are a perfect venue for the art museum, and a delight in itself to wander, sit on a stone bench and look at eh peacefulness. The small... More

We loved the museum setting as much and the wonderful representation of art from the tried and true to the new and funky. The outdoor sculptures are also great to wander thru.
