The Museum offers important permanent collections of Egyptian, Greek and Roman antiquities, Asian art, Latin American art, contemporary art and American paintings. We did a free night where they had a band, appetizers and beer/wine. I think this is a monthly free night event for the locals. Check out their website.

Visited the San Antonio Museum of Art and was pleasantly surprised. Did not know what to expect and found a world class museum with a nice mix of art and art history.

A Beautiful building along the banks of the San Antonio River (You can take the river barge there)! Fabulous collections, a little something for everyone. A must see when visiting SA!

What a surprise! Had spent a day running around San Antonio site seeing and rally wanted to spend some time indoors. Dropped in on this museum. Great Egyptian and Greek collections. Lots of cool funerary art. Amazing Samurai uniform in the Asian collection. Nice collection...More

Truly enjoyed the building. Renovations in progress didn't effect our enjoyment. The gallery covers a wide variety of artistic genres and periods. We particularly enjoyed the contemporary Mexican artists. The gallery also has a gorgeous ancient sculpture exhibit. The architecture and lighting enhance these exhibits....More

A small collection of historical pieces and modern art, but a great way to spend a few hours if you want to have a nice relaxed afternoon to explore The Tibetan sand 'painting'is amazing!

Wide variety of art from around the world. Especially enjoyed the Folk Art section but all were good. Renovations underway so signage is a bit off. Nice way to spend a couple hours

Sorry to say it was temporary and gone. We were so fortunate to see it the last day of the exhibition.
