With more than 8,500 animals on 56 acres, there's plenty of fun for the whole family. The San Antonio Zoo was first established with a donation from George W. Brackenridg in the 1800s. Two of the first cageless exhibits in the U.S. opened here in 1929 and the bird collection is one of the world's largest.

We went with our 10-year-old, but had to limit our visit to 3 hours because our flight out was leaving that day. We got there about half an hour after opening. Despite the rush, we had a lot of fun exploring the zoo, and did get to see probably 95% of the exhibits. There were a lot of areas where... More

We were in town for my son's BMT graduation. We went here one day while he was on leave. It was so nice! It was not crowded and gave us quality time to spend with him. It is a must see!

There was no parking. It was not handicap accessible at all and we had to for fit going because it was not accessible. I am paralyzed and use a wheelchair to get around and there was just no way to get into this zoo. We couldn't find ramps and parking was full and the other lot was in the gravel... More

This was a normal zoo. Lots more birds than I've ever seen. The zoo could use more signs for visitors. The lion and hippo exhibits were particularly good. Very reasonable price for this zoo.

Not too big,yet not small. The children's area and petting zoo are a good experience for children that have had little or no interaction with farm animals. The zoo is clean and the animal enclosures are well kept. Season passes are recommended for frequent visitors.

Conveniently located near downtown in the expansive Brackenridge Park. Good variety of animals to view. The carousel is beautiful and fun to ride for kids and adults. Nice restaurant for dining during your visit. Some of the exhibits could use better habitat development but overall the living environments of the animals are nice. The butterfly exhibit is gorgeous. Stop at... More

We spent the day at the San Antonio Zoo 12/28/16. It was a beautiful zoo. The animals are all well taken care of, the enclosures are nice and big for them to roam. I highly recommend you take the time to visit this beautiful zoo!

According to Trip Advisor reviewers, 4 hours is an acceptable visit time. They were wrong. It took us an hour to complete one small section of the zoo from the entrance to the kiddies' play area! There is so much squeezed into a small space that you need much more time to visit each exhibit. We purchased the Fun Day... More

The San Antonio Zoo offered a lot of interactive sessions. We were able to ride a Camel, feed a Giraffe as well as feed Birds. They had a vast amount of animals and attractions. Overall excellent experience while visiting this zoo.
