For a quick but challenging hike, Tumamoc can't be beat. The uphill trail is short but strenuous. Wear good shoes, bring a bottle of water, and get your heart pumping. It's only accessible during certain morning and evening hours, check first. Very popular and sociable.

Tumamoc Hill is where the word ecology was coined, we are told. Studies have gone on there longer than at any other field site in the world. Impressive. However, locals view it mainly as a place to get your heart pumping on the walk to...More

Tumamoc Hill (or as we say "B Mtn", as in just behind "A Mtn") is a great hike, interesting terrain and you run the risk of seeing javelina, deer, lizards, quail and the occasional rattlesnake. Please follow the rules though, it's a Univ of Arizona...More

This is great place for free exercise. The hill is challenging in some places but well work the effort if you make it to the top. There are MANY people of all ages who walk/run the hill in the mornings, be prepared for poor parking...More

This place provides an excellent view of the area with a cement trail for ease of hiking. It's a bit of highway though in terms of hiking traffic due to this fact, but it feels safe to hike at night as a woman, and it's...More

My wife and I often do this hike on the weekend. It's a great workout, with steep grades at times, but the reward at the end are some of the most spectacular views of Tucson you can get. Bring water to drink. Many walkers/runners are...More

was going on Wednesdays with the hiking meetup, but they just zip up the mountain and I guess I'm not fit enough. This *is* quite steep and fully paved. There is one set of restrooms. Beautiful view from the top. Very popular all hours of...More

A paved road all the way to the top, but don't let that lull you into thinking it will be easy. There is a 700 foot gain in elevation, and the angle of incline gets incredibly steep near the top. I guarantee your calf muscles...More

Halfway through the walk up this hill you'll be thinking "this isn't too tough" and that's a mistake. The last 25% of the walk is at a STEEP incline with many switchbacks. It's well-paved and maintained and wide enough for service vehicles to use for...More

Yes. Just don't park in the doctors office parking lot you could get towed if they are open. Great hike up with terrific views and this time of year might see the deers walking around.

I get 1.55 miles one way with a 730 foot elevation for 11.2% on average. It is maybe 15% for the last 1/2 mile. Women push baby strollers to the top.
