The husband, son and I thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon away from the Gem, Mineral and Fossil show. With 73 degrees and sunny in Tucson, we found it the same minus 20-30 degrees at the top. We prepared for the trip with hats, gloves and jackets but there was no need. With ample snow near the top we saw children climbing... More

The road is in good condition, and there are many scenic pull outs to stop and take pictures. It was interesting to see how the landscape changes as the elevation changes. The bottom was full of cacti, and before you know it, you're surrounded by pine trees with snow on the ground! We made it to the 8000 ft. mark,... More

It's steep, it's windy and it's a beautiful way to spend a day in the Sonoran Desert. I live very close to this highway and it's extremely popular. Get ready to spend a day there, and sometimes to endure a lot of traffic, but it's worth it. Plan on not being in a hurry, grab a bite to eat at... More

If you visit Tucson, do not miss a drive up Mt. Lemon. The road is excellent and elevation markers let you know how high you are. At each level, the diversity of the landscape changes. It is a wonderful study of the desert and mountain range. We started with cactus and on the way down we saw a breathtaking post... More

A must drive if you are visiting the area. Beautiful views with lots of scenic pull outs for taking pictures. Be careful of bikers as this is a very popular route for bicycles. The snow storms can be wicked during the winter months so check the road conditions before you go. The Catalina Hwy. closes offen during these storms.

We didn't realize how high Mt. Lemmon was and were surprized when we got above 7000'. We got out need the top and hiked around a bit. Lots of places to stop and get beautiful views of the valley

This is such a stark and welcome brake from the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona. This is a very clear case of altitude effecting attitude. The views and cool refreshing breeze would be more than reason enough to make this drive. As a bonus you are treated to a true mom and pop ski shop and resort at the top... More

Wonderful drive with many, many gorgeous stopping places, traveling from the desert floor up into the pine forest. Ski area open for short snow season. The town Summerhaven at the top has Cookie Cabin with scrumptious giant cookies, pizza, hot dogs and drinks. The chair lift and restaurant at the ski area are open year round--try the homemade soups! A... More

This has to be at the top of your bucket list to do while in the Tucson area. We were blessed with a heavy Mountain snowfall the evening before. I was amazed how quickly the roads were clear and safe. The pull offs are well marked in advance and well worth the stops to take advantage of the magnificent vistas.... More

A must for any Tucson visitors, you have to at least drive to Windy Point and see the view. If you travel up further you get to see the amazing pine trees, more amazing view, great hiking, and the cookie cabin. Yes you must end at the cookie cabin, or better yet fill up on their huge cookies and walk... More
