Fry Bread! (& art)

The mission is beautiful but you must visit this place even if just for the fry bread. It's basically the local version of funnel cake but it's delicious.

This is one of the hidden gems of Arizona, this mission is beautiful and is still used today. The amazing handpaintings on the walls and ceilings are amazing.

My husband and I had a couple hours to kill while in Tucson, so we made the drive to the mission. So glad we did. It is a bit out of the way, but it is a beautiful, spiritual place and there is a walking trail that is worth checking out - beautiful view of the surrounding mountains.

Visited San Xavier in April and loved the quietness and somewhat secluded spot. It is an old mission that is the perfect spot for reflection and to pay tribute to those who have gone before. Loved the native fry bread stands that are set up a short distance away; kids and families having a good time was very nice. The... More

The San Xavier Plaza is across the parking lot from the Mission and consists of several shops selling Indian goods, together with a couple of restaurants, none of which are part of the San Xavier Mission. There are also some good restrooms which are much quicker to use than queuing for those in the Mission. The plaza is worth visiting... More

If your visit to Tucson includes the city's history this is a must stop. One of the first stops on the Camino Real.

If you love history, this is a must see when in Tucson. Hard to imagine what life was like here in the Tucson area when this mission was built in the 1700's. Although we love to visit locations like this while traveling, the area around the mission could use some serious garbage pick up. There is an ongoing effort at... More

We have been to San Xavier Mission a number of times. It's charm, history and spiritual quality never gets old. The new video is excellent so do not miss it. Spend time just resting in the beauty of the chapel or the court yard. Don't miss it if you are in Tuscon area.....There is also an outdoor market when you... More

This is one of the oldest Cathedrals in America - 1692! The Spanish influenced architecture and decor make it a must see on your travels. Great spot to light a candle and spend time in prayer.
