Voted BEST OF TUCSON every year since 2002 by readers of the Tucson Weekly,...

Voted BEST OF TUCSON every year since 2002 by readers of the Tucson Weekly, The Loft Cinema is a mission-driven, membership-supported nonprofit cinema that screens new independent American and foreign films and documentaries, along with classic art films, interactive events including a monthly short film contest, sing-a-longs and cult favorites. Patrons can enjoy beer, wine, pizza, tamales along with fantastic films.

The main theatre seats 500 people and boasts the largest screen in Southern Arizona. In addition to our regular programming, The Loft hosts an annual international film festival in the fall and a free children's film festival every July. The Loft is a member of the Sundance Institute's Art House Project, based on our excellence of programming and service to the community. In 2012 The Loft was selected to be an official venue of the Sundance Film Festival in their Sundance USA program and we have hosted a screening direct from Sundance with the filmmakers every year since. The Loft is one of 7 American cinemas to be a collaborating partner with Film Forward: Advancing Cultural Dialogue in 2012, an honor The Loft also enjoyed in 2011.

When I visit a new city, I always check to see if there's a good cinema. "Good" for me is a selection of current independent films...or maybe a repertory place screening classics or obscurities...or maybe a historic venue that predates our modern movie-house arenas. You can therefore safely assume that the Loft Cinema quickly went from "good" to "great" as... More

This theater is a great local and independent movie house! The employees are friendly, the food options are great. Make sure to check each week for movie options. This past 4th of July we saw Top Gun and were home in time to see fireworks. Always a great time at the Loft

I love this place. They offer all ranges of movies from new releases to black and white classics. They also recently added on a 3rd screen so they can now offer more movies and times. I personally love their Hayao Miyazaki series, where they do all of his movies over a 3 month period and you can pay in advance... More

The Loft is one of our favorite indoor pastimes. It's like going to a family event. So many people know each other and many people talk to each other as if they are friends. Going to a sold out 70mm classic is a blast. Jeff, the program director gives his tongue in cheek and informative background introductions to the oldies.... More

I have been going to the Loft for 30 plus years, since it was located upstairs above a bicycle shop on 6th street! The loft has always been a great place to see an "off the beaten path" movie. It's just that The Loft has continued to get better and better over the years. This is one of the few... More

Nostalgia personified, this place reminds me of movie theaters from my youth. We saw Lawrence of Rabia in 70 mm large screen in a packed theater with free popcorn, free parking, and only a $9 ticket charge. Go early because the place sells out. Seats are close together, bathroom lines long, but there is no better place to see old... More

There is everything to enjoy and like about this not for profit theater. We watched a free film outdoors on Saturday eve and then joined the festival on Sunday for a chat and a film. We then became members.

I like that when you go to the Loft, the people there really want to see the movie. Great items are on sale in the lobby to round out the nice experience. Try it!

I usually don't get excited about movie theaters but the Loft is so different. It's not a theater; it's an experience. It's a local movie house showing some first runs, some limited showings and some old/artsy movies. It's so hard to classify this place but just go for the fun of it. I truly smile every time I walk in... More

This is a great movie theater. Comfortable seats and you can order pizza, chips, pop corn or a great variety of beers or wine. The movie is more enjoyable when you; can sit back and sip on your drink and snack. It is a cozy and intimate feeling as you watch a good movie. Many small theaters playing different films.... More
