We visited the Children's Museum in 1998 and were terribly disappointed in how tired looking it was. Many of the "interactive" exhibits were broken and no longer functioned. Our children were 2 and 5 at the time and they just wanted to push buttons and interact with the exhibits. Many were just not in decent shape and we commented on the way out that they needed some serious fundraising to take place in order to make it a really decent museum. Hopefully, they have.

I treated my good friend and her 11 year old daughter Emily to this venue. It was the first time for me as well. Frankly it was run down, many of the exhibits non-funtioning, and in general boring. But I must confess I am spoiled and had high expectations because my own children had the advantage of experiencing the world renowned Indianapolis Childrens Museum when growing up. The fees are high enough that one would wonder why this museum suffers as it does. Emily wanted to leave 20 minutes in to it. I would not return.

We've been to a number of children's museums over the years. We took our grandson to this one while he was visiting and we were shocked at how small it is, especially considering the pretty high admission. Tucson is a big place and can do better!

I have never gone to any other children’s museum so I can not compare it but with that said I love this place. It is a great little place to take children, especially on a hot Tucson day. They have a great staff and are reasonably priced. There is currently a section with kid’s computers where even small children can play, a room full of large moving dinosaurs, a grocery store with lots of food and carts, a sea exhibit, a train exhibit, a real police motorcycle and the front of a real fire truck that kids can play in, and oh so much more!
I love this place and have taken kids ages 6m to 9 years and all have enjoyed themselves. It is a safe clean environment for you and your children (although the museum is nice, it is downtown and the neighborhood is not always the cleanest, I am telling you this so while you are driving there you do not get discourage by the area)!

We took are 7 year old to the Children’s Museum for the first time today. Waste of money. I counted over 10 machines/ activities that were broken or not working, a lot of the activities had missing pieces, and the logo tables didn’t even have legos to fit. Very disappointed. Only took 1 hour to go through.

Both my 16 month old toddler & my three year old preschooler were over-powered & viciously attacked by the same much older & larger bully today. My toddler was punched in the chest & thrown to the ground. The preschooler was restrained against his will while he was severely bitten on the arm; the bite broke the skin. The bully that did this physical harm to my boys didn't have to leave the museum or even apologize. The bully was protected by the museum directors as he was allowed to remain & enjoy the opportunity to bully & do more harm to other children. I acknowledge that it is a parent's duty to protect their children & I always remain within eyesight & steps of my boys. These completely unprovoked assaults happened in a matter of seconds. We left for fear of our safety & to protect ourselves. I believe the priorities at this museum are severely skewed. If the children's museum's directors refuse to support or protect small children, how are children supposed to learn to do the right thing from being part of this organization? What kind of example is being set for the children that witnessed the assault? This is a place that I thought was meant to teach & nurture children yet the example being set here is that assaulting another, smaller, younger person is acceptable & actually rewarded by additional play time. My heart is broken for my sons' injuries & my loss of faith in this organization.

The Children’s Museum Tucson would like to address the unfortunate incident between two 3 year old boys who were visiting the Museum last month. While playing in one of the exhibits, one three year old bit another three year old on the forearm and the bite did break the skin. Unfortunate and unpredictable as the incident was, the situation was isolated between two 3 year old children. The Museum deeply regrets the incident and injury. In 2011, over 127,000 visitors came to the Children’s Museum Tucson and there were no similar incidents. We are proud of this track record of providing a fun, educational and safe environment for children and families. We are sorry this happened at the Museum, but would like to correct the post on some factual mistakes: this was an isolated incident between two three year olds vying for the same toy, not bullying, a vicious attack or an assault. The children involved were both the same size and age. No mention of any toddler being in any way involved was ever made to the Museum. The other child’s mother was cooperative and did apologize. We expect all of our visitors, children and adults alike, to behave appropriately, and will continue to provide a safe, fun, play-based, learning environment for families with that in mind.

We spent 20 minutes in the outside courtyard playing with the outdoor congas, xylophones, and chimes before setting foot in the front door!

I knew we had a winner when I put my granddaughter down in the museum foyer and she first started to the left, stopped and then started right, stopped and began to toddle to the Electri-City section of the museum. Our toddler grand-kids had the time of their young lives being able to explore, touch, move, climb, push, jump, pull, and crank the exhibits at the museum. We watched, laughed, and got down low for many exhibits (my knees are still aching!) and hands-on time sharing with the babies. Our 14-year old enjoyed the exhibits as much as the babies and I had to go searching for her to find her in the Investigation Station exhibit playing with the Bernoulli Blowers again.

Smart phones are only needed here to take pictures or videos of kids having a blast! They were still going strong for over 2.5 hours before we had to leave to go shopping and they promptly fell asleep in their car seats before we had gone two blocks. Glad I got a years membership so we can return for more fun when in town.

Great location and helpful, friendly staff. However, at $36 for a family of 4 (2 - adults and 2 - 15 month old toddlers), the cost was way too high for the limited number of toddler activities available. The under 4 section lacked any engaging activities or exhibits. What was there could easily be found on a typical playground or in most homes. The play kitchen lacked any type of accessories or related toys to play with. My girls found it fun to open the fridge door for about 3 seconds and then their interest quickly faded. The rest of the room had a lot of broken, old looking toys that also didn't look like they had been cleaned in a while. The rest of the exhibits looked more interesting, however, they were geared towards older kids and as it was very busy my toddlers found it hard to play with anything. I also didn't see any staff in most of the rooms, so it was up to the parents to keep the kids in check when they got too wild. The food stand room was total chaos and several smaller kids kept getting knocked over by bigger kids who were snatching toys from them. Not the museums fault, but it would be helpful to have a staff member there to help remind the parents when a kid gets out of hand.

We took our Granddaughter there and were very shocked at the location. There were alot of homeless people walking around asking for money etc. The area was not attractive, meaning, area was dirty not where you expect a childrens museum to be located . Inside was great our Granddaughter is 11/2 yrs old and she had a wonderful time.
I am not sure about returning due to the location of the museum.
A little expensive for what they offer.
