The Tucson Museum of Art was founded 1924. It is Southern Arizona's premier presenter of fine art and art education programs. The Museum features permanent and traveling exhibitions of Modern and Contemporary, Native American, American West, Latin American, and Asian art. The main Museum, a contemporary architectural gem, has nearly 20,000 square feet of exhibition space. The Museum's Historic Block of 19th and 20th C. adobe and Mission Revival-style buildings, encompassing an entire four-acre city block, includes the John K. Goodman Pavilion of Western Art, displaying the Museum's notable art of the American West collection, the national award-winning Museum restaurant Café a la C'Art, and additional exhibition spaces.

This is a very nice museum with a nice variety of art. Easy access and plenty of parking nearby. There are two historical houses that are part of the museum as well as a nice restaurant in the back.

This is a high-quality art museum, but not always. We have visited 15-20 times. The adobe-walled western art section is really special, but hard to find. It is located just a few steps from the main gallery that houses the featured exhibits. Some of the exhibits are outstanding; others not so. If you're a Pima County Library System cardholder, you... Excellent exhibits well constructed and displayed. We especially liked the 'Body in Motion display. Their Western art exhibit of 9 rooms included everything from old paintings and pottery to modern plastic sculpture. Their Spanish exhibit was outstanding And included sculpture and pottery as well as metal work from the 4th century through the Middle Ages. We also loved the Belein... More

Thought we were not going to be able to check this off our Tuscon bucket list but it was open on our last day which was a Monday. Powerful muralish size paintings by whoever - depressing exhibit about the US interference, invasions, greed and oppression of areas in Central America to "support American corporations and their property interests - and... This is a wonderful art museum that includes historic houses in the neighborhood. Do not miss those houses as they are a wonderful part of Tucson history. Also in the museum proper do not miss the Latin American collection on the second floor, the Mexican nativity outside and the Western Art collection which is in its own building. Also do... More

Facility is very well done, easy access, easy walk and elevator available. The early afternoon was delightful, the outside area with sculptures was a nice contrast to the air conditioned main galleries. Most of the pieces are modern in that they are this century some mid 1950+. I was disappointed the pieces were not older to compare art styles, impressions... More

We stopped by late and saw the last day of the travelling exhibit. It was a beautiful exhibit on the transportation that made the west. The architecture of the building is great with ramps leading down from gallery to gallery. At the bottom there are some great sculptures including a Rodin.

A lovely museum in the heart of the city. We were surprised to find that it had some interesting exhibits beyond the expected Southwestern paintings, sculpture and artifacts - some interesting modern art exhibits, some kitschy type art, pre-Columbian artifacts, Colonial exhibits, etc. Nice historic Arts and Crafts style house you can tour next door as well, and within walking... Unfortunately poorly curated with questionable pieces. Not a significant museum. Best to miss and enjoy other parts of the town.
