The International Wildlife Museum is dedicated to increasing knowledge of and appreciation for the diverse wildlife of the world, as well as explaining the role of wildlife management in conservation. Founded in 1988, the museum has over 400 kinds of insects, mammals and birds from all over the globe. Some of the collections are more than 100 years old and all the species found at the museum were donated by various government agencies, wildlife rehabilitation centers, captive breeding programs, zoos and individuals. The museum features a collection of animals from all over the world, along with dioramas re-creating the natural environment in which these animals live. Your visit is an excellent opportunity to see animals up close and gain a better understanding of their size and adaptive characteristics. The museum has many touchable specimens on display. All exhibits are indoors and the facility is wheelchair accessible and air-conditioned. Wildlife movies run hourly from 10am until 4pm.

I homeschool my daughter, so when we visit Tucson I try and do things that will add to her education. The International Wildlife Museum certainly fits the bill, and she thoroughly enjoys her visits. She can read about all types of animals, everything from their diet to the habitat, to their natural enemies. The animals look so lifelike and the... More

Amazing amount of taxidermied animals. Especially in McElroy Hall. You see animals at the zoo, but you can't get this close to see their extraordinary size. Very educational. Looking forward to the Teddy Roosevelt exhibit later this month.

These are DEAD animals, stuffed and posed into dioramas. It is dated. There are nods to conservation, but those seem hypocritical given that the museum is based on the killing of endangered species.

We took our 13 year old Grandaughter not knowing what to expect, and were pleasantly surprised. It was so interesting to see the variety of exhibits, from insects to animals. Our Grandaughter loved it. It had a lot of hands on exhibits which is always a plus.

Decided to visit after a trip to Saguaro NP and were very pleased! The IWM contains an impressive collection of animals and our kids, 9 and 6, loved their scavenger hunts, which provided the added benefit of them looking at the animals and descriptions more closely.

Thanks for your review and for visiting the museum! You're definitely right - The scavenger hunts do help to slow the kids down and look at the exhibits more closely! Glad you enjoyed your time here and hope to see you again soon! More
