Great time at The Maverick

This has a decent sized dance floor and good opportunities for country Western dancing (mostly two-step, but you can find quite a variety). Plenty of people are there just for the fun and not the dancing, though, so you won't stick out if you don't dance. Some nights there is a country dance lesson, too. Call and ask for the... More

Maverick - what a great night out. We went on Saturday and it was a busy night with the resident live band. Good welcome from the regulars and they made room for us to share a table that was usually reserved for friends . A real fun atmosphere and some great country dancers to watch. Also some real amateurs just... More

I had never been west of Minneapolis, but was suddenly in Tucson without any time to find things to do. We stumbled upon the Maverick because I thought it looked like a great place from the outside. Went in, and we had a blast! The live band was great singing old songs and new ones most of which were my... More

At the Maverick you'll find a live band as well as plenty of country dancing. The floor isn't huge and fills up but it gives the place a lively atmosphere. There is a lot of two-stepping, as well a mix of other things including people that don't know what they heck they are doing (like my boyfriend and me). The... More

We were in Tucson for a long weekend and went dancing at Maverick on a Thursday night. We were very happy to find live music on a Thursday night which is impossible in our neck of the woods. The band was excellent, and we had a great night for the most part. Biggest complaint is that the dance floor was... More

We wanted a place for multiple generations to go out and try some dancing in Tucson. The Maverick filled the bill. We went on a Wednesday night when it was not too crowded. There were people there who really knew how to dance but they did not make us duffers fell bad on the floor. Everyone was welcome. It turned... More

The manager handles business affairs in a very unprofessional manner. The male customers are very prejudiced against older, heavier women and are very vocal about it. Never knew the Maverick was so 'clickish'. Lost me as a customer.

We recently flew with Maverick Helicopter tours for a Grand Canyon and Sunset flight over the Las Vegas strip. There are 2 seats in the front and 4 in the back. 3 couples were on our flight and we were told each couple would get a chance to 'ride up front', which obviously provides the best view. It was left... More

My best girlfriend and I went to Tucson for a short weekend getaway. We wanted to go someplace fun, that was safe and listen to some Country music. There weren't a lot of reviews for Tucson but we chose the Maverick. Totally fun bar with different range of ages - earlier in the night the older crowd (more our age)... More

If you go in there with an attitude, you'll get plenty back. This place has been around for over 30 years - for a reason. It is not a honky-tonk, it is an institution. The lessons are excellent - and so is the dancing early on. It gets a bit rowdy later but if you aren't local, it is very... More
