Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lots of information on activities, hotels, and food options. They have a large index of menus to look through...but in COVID times some of the restaurants were closing earlier than stated so may need to verify times with the actual restaurant. Good resource for someone that hasn't been to the area before.

We stopped here to find out where we could hike some trails. They have a nice park and lake around behind the center. The lady behind the desk was very helpful and circled some hikes on a free map. They had all sorts of printed sheets advising where to shop, eat, and stay. Everything was free.
Also they had a very nice, new parking garage that was free! We walked around a paved trail around the lake and were quite surprised to see a elk herd that had moved onto a nearby golf course. Also lots of geese and other birds. Definitely worth a stop here when you first come into town.

We stopped in on a weekend when the parking lot was full and the building was overwhelmed with visitors. We patiently waited in line and were able to speak with an employee, Kate. She was fantastic!!! and had so much info to offer!! She was friendly and personable and never rushed us. She answered all our questions and gave us recommendations that suited our style. We were glad we took the time to stop in at the beginning of our trip so we knew all that Estes Park had to offer.

I love parking here. It's free and we've always found a spot. Most of the time we walk under the road through an artsy walkway that goes straight to the river and main shops. But if you want, catch the trolley for a free ride back and forth to town.

Excellent place to start your exploration of the Estes Park area. Tons of information and maps that will help orient you. The extra bonus is the adjacent walk around Lake Estes. We saw numerous elk during our visit and we assume the the lake area (and flowing streams) has good fishing because there were a good number of people fly fishing.

Covered Parking garage is Free which comes in handy with paid parking in most of the downtown area and it's an easy walk to Town with Elk on the grounds of the golf course next door and nice sitting areas outside to rest up from your walks around Town. Menus for most of the Restaurants in Town and tons of Things to Do brochures free for the taking. Great place to stop in for area info before you start your visit in Estes.

Estes Park is truly great. You’re surrounded by nature and the mountains and can hang out on the lake, go shopping, enjoy the amazing food, see wildlife and go hiking around the area. Word of warning, they don’t allow dogs and most of the trails.

The Estes Park Visitor Center is closed due to the Pandemic. The restrooms are open and are spotlessly maintained. It's still a nice walk along the Big Thompson River behind the Center. There are places to sit and listen to the river flow past and watch the golden Aspen leaves fall to the ground. We visit Estes Park almost every year. This was the first time we have visited in the Fall and of course there is the Pandemic. People in Colorado and especially in Estes Park seem to be following safety procedures very well. We are happy to be in the fresh mountain air. I won't be able to answer some of the questions in regard to this review because these are not normal times. I will try to answer them according to the way things are normally.

Good selection of regional travel info. Central location appears to make this a constant hub of activity, one day was a car show and next day was a farmers market. Parking spot for shuttle buses.

We were really excited to visit this center, but, unfortunately, it was closed. Honestly, we knew coming up here during this time was a gamble, so we weren’t totally surprised, but just a bit disappointed. Almost everywhere else is actually open, as long as you wear a mask.
Despite the setback, they still offer a good amount of info by the restrooms, and their call center is still available if there any questions. From what we could see, the lobby looked great, so next time we’re in Estes, we’ll be sure to stop by.

Looking for a great place to hike with my daughter for first time!
Written 13 December 2020
It would depend on the age of your daughter! There are a lot of great hikes and the maps are located at the Visitors center for each type of hike you want to take!

We will be in Estes Park Sept 21-Sept 28. Do we need to be concerned about the smoke & air quality? Also, how is Covid out there?
Written 15 September 2020
We were there on Aug 30th and for the most part the air quality was good. The majority of business's have adhered to social distancing and mask wearing.

Hi, I'll be traveling to Estes park on October 20-23. I am worried about the driving conditions from Denver Airport. Does it typically snow? And if yes, will I need chains? Thank you!
Written 2 September 2019
We travel to Fort Collins, CO from Kentucky 3-4 times per year to visit our son and generally make it to Estes Park for long distance hiking or snowshoeing twice a year.
We've been to Estes Park in all four seasons of the year. This year in June, the road north of Bear Lake was closed due to snow. I don't think you will be dealing with snow in October as the temps generally range between the high 40's-very low 60's during the day and dips into the 20's at night.
Check with the EP Visitors Center and the RMNP Visitors Center before your trip for current and near weather and Road conditions. Our experience has been that if the roads are closed, they are not navigable due to snow yet navigable roads remain open. Snow tires not necessary if you have a good set of all-terrain tires that have been recently checked. Even if you do encounter snow.
Enjoy your trip to Estes Park!

Does the Estes Park Visitor’s Center sell 7 day pedestrian passes to RMNP?
We will be taking the shuttle from Estes Park Visitor’s Center into the park on our first day and we’re wondering where to buy our passes.

I have a (lifetime) Golden Age Passport. You can get one when you turn 62. If old enough, its the way to go. - For Rocky Mountain National Park you can get on-line a 1-day per person pass at $15 or a 7-day per person at $20. -- I have witnessed at the NPS Beaver Meadows Visitors Center that they do not sell Park passes at the Visitors Center and they refer people to the NPS Entrance to purchase their entrance passes. -- I don't know if they sell NPS passes at the Estes Park Visitors Center. They may sell passes there since you are getting a shuttle there to enter the Park. I recommend calling the Estes Park Visitors Center and ask them if they can sell NPS Park passes. Phone Number is 1-800-443-7837.

Just to be clear, I think we are talking about two different visitor's centers here. These reviews are about the Estes Park Visitor's center in the town of Estes Park. It is free to park and free to visit. There is also a visitor's center just before the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park that is also free and free to park.

Can you drive up the canyon without any road problems ?
Written 15 February 2018
There are some areas they keep closed in the winter time. We were there in December and there was a lot of snow. Check with the tourist info center and they will tell your for sure where can you drive. We drove the roads they had open at the time with no problem at all.

We visited early September so aren’t of much help. We saw several animals but no sheep.

Hi, what is the air quality like in Estes park right now? Is the smoke evident, is it obscuring the mountain views? Any indication it will lessen over the next week? Thank you for your comments

I visited Estes Park and RMNP Aug 28-Sept 1, 2017. There was some haze when the sun came up. Most of the day it was clear. Got some great pictures!
