Lady at hotel suggested this and we are so happy we went. We came out here to see redwoods and were trually amazed at the magnitude of these giants. Easy drive with lots of pulloffs.

Dirt road through the Redwoods. You will be awed by the size of the magnificent trees. The road is mostly dirt so the dust levels are high. The trees and ferns look ghostly. As you go around a curve be aware of oncoming vehicles. RVs...More

This road is very fascinating. It is important to limit the speed because is narrow and full of holes. It is also very dark driving in it because the long redwoods reduce a lot the brightness of the sun.

These big giant redwoods in the most quiet picturesque setting were out of this world! Make the drive on this beautiful trail, rough at times, but ok if you go real slow. The beginning there is a really low spot and then it improved. Best...More

One lane dirt road that is accessible by car. From South Crescent City near harbor, take Elk Valley Rd to Howland Hill Road (small brown sign says 'Stout Grove'). Howland Hill Rd (1-lane with turn-outs) winds ... drive slowly & carefully, enjoy the ride ......More

Enchanting winding dirt road that takes you through the redwood forest. Squeeze past standing and downed trees. Part single lane with turnouts to let motorists get by. Takes you to several trailheads. Best driven after a rain. Otherwise prepare to exit with a vehicle coated...More

This is a fun ride if you have a 4x4. Not needed, but more fun. Great to have all the Hondas and Hundais pull over to let you pass. It is a tight squeeze in some places so all the cautions about RVs and trailers...More

So we decided to visit as recommended and we certainly were not disappointed. Amazing trees, so much to see. Great to go for a little wander but remember to take your repellent.

There are many paying camp grounds in the area, including several near the harbor. Before we moved to the area we always preferred to use the campground in Jed Smith Park. Depending on when you will come you may need to... More

There are some small parking areas along the way that you could use. Nothing on the road, per se. The road is basically one lane and the shoulder is used so people from the other direction can pass.
