When we arrived at two-steps there were dolphins swimming and jumping in the water in the cove. We still had to get our snorkeling gear and could only see them do their tricks from the shore. The snorkeling was great as well. I’d even say...More

Here at Honaunau bay (right next to the National Historical Park, but not on their premises) there is a magnificent snorkeling place, called "Two steps", because the ocean here is pristine, but after a few meters becomes deep. You can enter to the ocean from...More

This was one of the larger areas that we visited. I was surprised by the cultural center and employees available to answer historical questions. They had a free presentation that we skipped. They had a walking tour on the grounds that was great. It wasn't...More

Fantastic views of the ocean. National Historic Park next door. How could you not go. Every one of the beaches on this island are different. Fun to see them all and then comeback to your favorite.

So many damn fish they kept getting in my way. Giant snapping turtle kept hogging the rock I was trying to sit on. I think there must’ve been a convention going on underseas.

This area is also referred to as 2 Step due to its natural ledge formation with it’s “2 steps down” entry into the water. It is a good follow up activity to the “City of Refuge” or Puuhonua O Honaunau National Park. Go do that...More

Honaunau Bay is found next to the Place of Refuge and is really popular among visitors who want to check out the underwater marine life :)). There’s a small boat ramp here and a very sheltered, shallow area for Keikis; deeper water where lots of...More

Glide in to water off lava formed 2 step entry. Take lead from others. Just sublime under water world. No colour coral just white like most hawaii, but the variety and quantity of fish was impressive.

This is a wonderful historic site on the island of Hawaii, between Kailua Kona and going toward Volcano and Hilo. Has a ranger who will give details, view on your own. Beautiful site for picture taking.
