Have done parts of Rt.66 on two separate road trips to NM and Arizona. Although some of the glitz and glory of bygone days are left to the imagination in spots, Rt. 66 still holds an allure to the romantic and inquisitive. Traveling Rt. 66, you take the good with the bad. It may make sense to do as we... More

Unfortunately this part of RT. 66 is very poor and run down...to the point of being depressing. Abandoned single wide trailers abound, very little culture left to see. And the "Historic US Hwy 66" signs are sad...as they have nothing to show in most places other than pothole patched, or not, road.

LOTS of construction ... ALL the way through Albuquerque. We kind of thought Route 66 had lost a little of it's luster.

Route 66, The Mother Road, cut through the center of New Mexico, leaving a legacy of broken dreams, heartache, and the spirit of a people seeking the American Dream. Many of the businesses that sprang up to greet weary travelers have become landmarks that can still be seen today. To attract customers, many of the businesses along Route 66 invested... More

I've done bits of Route 66 on various trips over the years but never wanted to travel along it. This year in Albuquerque I decided to do the local bit. It is an insight into what travel was light years ago when the motel was the place to stay, it was more basic travel but I think we all have... More

Although much of Route 66 is no longer there you do see signs where some parts have been retained and it is worth getting off in some of the old towns. Sadly some have not been well maintained such as Gallup and also Flagstaff but you do get a feel for what it was with its old tacky motels and... More

The Albuquerque stretch of Route 66 is favorite. The city has done a remarkable job of retaining historic American businesses along this run and there are lots of new American adventures that I hope are equally well operated and maintained.

The neon is great, but by far the coolest thing is the singing highway. It is on the way to the top of Sandia Mountain. Set your speed to 45 and you will hear America The Beautiful.

Traveling Route 66 was a fantastic journey. We started in Chicago and ended in Los Angeles. Although a lot of Route 66 is no longer there, some of it is replaced by I 40. It is worth following Route 66 when able, to see the old towns and the way it used to be. There were things to see round... More

Route 25 is old route 66. With all it's old time glory, it is still kind of exciting to drive down route 66.
