Traveling the old road

We our best to travel the old road to and from Oklahoma City with one area being a gravel road near the Texas line.

Great driving experience, just got a new Benz convertable and this made the drive even better. Lots of places to stop along the way, Trading Posts and shops, gorgeous scenery, This is the best of Route 66!

The signs really take you there. Many places don't look like it has changed in 50 years. I plan to go back on my Indian motorcycle and ride 66 & 14

We were able to drive some of the old Route 66 when we were visiting the southwest last summer. There are some fun shops and diners still on Route 66. We enjoyed educating our children on why Route 66 was so important and how it changed America. They were amazed that a road could have so much impact. Much of... More

I've section traveled a lot of 66 and this area has some great sites. Lots of neon signs, the music road, and plenty of good food.

It isn't a very time-consuming attraction but it's certainly worth checking out. If you drive at the speed limit on a designated section you'll hear your wheels hum the tune of America the Beautiful. Pretty cool if you ask me.

We drove Historic Route 66. There are a variety of attractions to see along the way. We also liked finding unique diners. Its a fun road to drive.

My wife, son and I planned a road trip from WV to U.S. Route 66, west to the Grand Canyon, north to Utah and back to WV on I-70. We had planned some stops along the way: paddleboat on the Cumberland River, hot air balloon ride in Albuquerque. But the ride on Highway 66 was itself phenomenal! To realize the... More

Pretty cool driving down the famous Rte. 66 coming into Albuquerque. A lot of the old style motels still remain or have been converted to other uses. Can easily imagine what this area was like in the mid-20th century during a less hectic period of travel.
