If you want to go where the action is most any night of the week, it is here, on Central Avenue in the heart of downtown. There are are, restaurants, music venues, food trucks, and, yes, a number of panhandlers. But don't let that put you off - this is a great city street! A must walk while in ABQ.

Entire once picturesque route is presently being torn up to accommodate a rapid transit bus service, reducing car travel to single lanes; But the drive is worth it if you want to say you were on the original Route 66 traveling east or west!

This is the worst avenue in the city ever... it is a bit nice near the university, and downtown, but throughout the rest of the city, I would not advise anyone to walk there. There are always police cars, bad areas, etc.

Like any town, Albuquerque has its sketchy areas, and many of them seem to be on Central. However, it does have some pretty cool places (i.e. UNM, Nob Hill). Exercise caution, and if it seems a little off, it probably is. Look for cool tourist spots and cute restaurants and you'll be good to go.

Central ave down town has always been trying to get going but never seems to quite make it. There are neat little spots to eat, some good shopping, and really good art venues. It is worth a visit, parking is easy, and just stroll around and explore the area.

Just like most of Albuquerque, the homeless and transient population is everywhere and detracts from Central Avenue. Until the city is ready to actually do something about this, it is not worth the hassle and feeling of being unsafe.

Central Ave is under construction thru 2017 and travel is a nightmare thru the area. I have partaken in the establishments on Central Ave for decades, but I now avoid the area at all cost, the nightmare od traversing the area is just not worth it.

As iconic and legendary as Route 66 is, it is hit and miss to find the 50's era neon and signs. It is worth a try though.

I think anyone that comes to visit Albuquerque should go down or up Central. Central is Route 66 and it is full of culture and history. On weekends you are sure to see at least one ambulance.

Have been in a number of places along this old classic section of Route 66. Really, the worst part is the parking. Lots of shops, restaurants, music. Interesting, if you're on foot.
