Even if you decide not to walk the trail, there is a drivable loop with some great overlooks (with parking) where you can enjoy this one! The views are outstanding and the coloration in the rocks is simply beautiful. I will post pictures with this...More

I knew that this was a recommended stop, but I didn't know what to expect. It is kind of eerie and barren with sort of the look of another planet from a sci fi movie. The loop drive is high up and gives you views...More

I read some of the reviews here and I would just be repeating what everyone else already said. Just go! And try to go off season. It was hands down one of our favorite things during our Az vacation.

You can drive to the top for a view or take a moderate walk (1 mile with an elevation change of 120 feet) but either way this is one of the key attractions of the Petrified Forest National Park

Loved the area! The hike was only a mile but had one part when you had to go up hill. Not bad if you take your time. Wonderful sights! One of my two favorite places in this park!!!

Maybe it was too sunny or something when we went, but it just didn't appear that blue to me. I would say it was average, but don't expect to be overwhelmed.

The scenery looks similar to Badlands in South Dakota to me, except the color here is unique blue. We walked the blue mesa loop, truly enjoyed the natural beauty.
