We did a short walking tour behind the visitor centre to see the amazing petrified logs. Also looked around the visitor centre and watched an introductory film of the park and the ongoing work being done there. We then drove Route 66 through the park...More

This is located at the south entrance. Make sure to go inside the center first so if you have any quest you can pick the employees brain. There are also artifacts including dinosaurs inside the building.

Petrified logs that looked like they had been perfectly cut. Not so! Worth a look, but for us, near the end of our journey, we expected a little more. We noted that in Holbrook there were places selling pieces of petrified wood.

This is one of the best areas of the park for really getting a good look at petrified Logs. there are some really large ones here, a few look like they just fell.
