Not only is this a great zoo and a must do. They rehabilitated an injured blue heron back to health. This blue heron was released to its new home in the wild 3 days ago. They have wonderful people that care greatly for the animals. Behind the scenes actions that needs to be noticed as well. Thanks for all you... More

Don't expect the San Diego Zoo or The Living Desert, but well worth visit. We found it best to visit on an overcast, not too hot, day. We took our time going through; spent less than 4 hours there.

The zoo is really well designed, the animals have a lot of space to move around and they seem healthy and happy! Recommended for families and couples

I loved the zoo ...it was easy to get around, animals were in wonderful habitats and the journey to worldwide geographic areas was engaging! The adults lived it as much as the kiddos!

All the animals seemed healthy and happy! Enclosures were well maintained and setup in a manner that allowed you to view the animals yet it gave them security and comfort. None of them seemed to be lacking or in need of anything. We met staff member, Ms. Nancy Vetter, she was very pleasant and gave us some zoo history. She... More

The Gladys Porter Zoo is nice surprise for zoo goers. It is small enough to be able to do the whole zoo in a reasonable time (preferably early when the heat is less and the animals are moving) and it is large enough to have a good mix of animals. They also have aquatic life. One of the fun bonuses... More
