About
Half-hour recitals featuring the world-famous pipe organ in the Mormon Tabernacle are offered free of charge nearly every day of the year, holidays included. Performances take place Mondays through Saturdays at 12:00 noon, and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. A second performance is added (usually in the Conference Center across the street) on Mondays through Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. between Labor Day and Memorial Day. The doors open 10 minutes before each concert. Admission is free and open to all people of all ages. Those attending should come to door #11 on the east end of the Tabernacle, near the flagpole. (For recitals in the Conference Center, enter at door 15 of that building.)

Great way to enjoy a musical event
Jul. 2021
We spent 35 minutes this afternoon listening to the organist play at the Tabernacle; he played at least 4 different pieces, some familiar and some not. It was a lovely interlude on a very hot day and a nice way to see the Tabernacle. This is a free event and well worth the time. There is a lot of construction in the area so allow plenty of time to find the entrance from where you have parked, if you are driving. From the program, it looks like these concerts will be every day for the rest of the week.

Pipe organ concert
Aug. 2019
Free to the public, surprise! The pipe organ concerts were a 30 minute pleasure of expert artistry. Included famous composers as well as contemporary works commissioned for the occasion. The pipe organs maintained by LDS are a pleasure to hear, and a surprise, since they are so expensive. A peaceful moment of rest...

Great organ
Dec. 2017 • Couples
For those who like to listen to the organ alone, this is very good. I like it some, but I tire of it rather quickly.
The organ is excellent, and the organists are extremely talented.
The building is phenomenal and visiting it is so spectacular.

A welcome treat
Jun. 2018 • Couples
When visiting Salt Lake City a must see is the Great Mormon Temple located in Temple Square. The temple itself is a magnificent piece of architecture and if you time your visit just right you'll be treated to a wonderful organ concert . It is roughly one half hour in length and the organ selections are varied from old hymns to modern masterpieces. The temple square is a cool breezy place from the often oppressive heat of Salt Lake. Learn about Mormon Utah's history, enjoy the fountains and gardens, and hear some great music. Best of all, it is FREE!

Amazing sounds
Apr. 2018 • Couples
The organist explained the acoustics of the hall and then played a wide range of pieces to demonstrate the abilities of the organ. And it is free. Plenty of room in the hall so don't sweat rushing to get in a line.

Always Worth It
Sep. 2017 • Family
We drive down regularly to hear the recitals throughout the week. They always make a wide ranging selection of pieces that show off the versatility of the Tabernacle organ. I appreciate the programs being posted on the choir's website in advance, it makes it easy to plan when to come to hear something in particular.

Outstanding Organ Concert
Sep. 2017 • Couples
September 13, 2018 - As part of our Salt Lake City day tour, we stopped around noon for the free organ recital. It is not as popular as the choir recitals but the normal choir rehearsal on Thursday nights was canceled because of taping. The organ recital was really outstanding. It was amazing to realize the incredible acoustics in the Tabernacle. The organist spoke first with the mic and then without the mike. He also dropped a pin on the desk in front of him and we could hear it drop.

The organ recital program chances daily. If you are in Salt Lake City, you must go to both the organ recital at noon and the choir rehearsal on Thursday nights.
