Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This monument is part of the much larger park (This is the Place Heritage Park) dedicated to the original settlers...truly an interesting place in whole. Until we visited I had no idea that Salt Lake City was a home station and the last station in Division Three of the Pony Express. The monument itself is incredibly detailed and a true work of art. There is an reconstructed home and stable which is surrounded by "prairie" with a backdrop of mountains.

Many folks have reviewed the Pony Express Trail but this impressive monument is worth seeing. As a child I was caught up in tales of the Old West and Pony Express stories were a big part of that. Being where these adventurous men & boys actually rode their routes and seeing this bronze recreation of the Express of the Old West brought back a lot of stories I had read years ago. We were with a large group and our local guide told how the Express recruited orphans who were looking for a way out of poverty and anonymity. They focused on this group because there would be no one to mourn or be notified if the rider never came back. She also told the story of one of her relatives who actually was a Pony Express rider and who disappeared while on his route never to be heard from again. If you love the Old West, don't miss this monument.

Actually within the larger park to the original Morman settlers - its is an interesting stop. The monument itself is a true work of art, near it is an old house and it is all surrounded by "prairie" with a backdrop of mountains

The sculptor has caught the vision of a pony express rider. The rider's expression, his position, and the horse's movement all display the message that the participants and the animals help you understand the importance of the speed necessary for the movement of the mail during this time in our western history. I loved it. I have seen it on several occasions and I have always been able to have new feelings and insights from the statues. Come see for yourself. It is a true masterpiece.

The Pony Express was a mail service delivering messages and mail from St. Joseph, Missouri across the Great Plains, over the Rocky Mountains and the Sierra Nevada to Sacramento, California. During its 18 months of operation, it reduced the time for messages to travel between the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to about ten days.

This is a tribute to those men who put their lives in danger to deliver the mail. The statute is very detailed with facial expressions and horse structure. There is a replica station that show how small the men were back then. This is a fitting tribute to those men.

Salt Lake City was, apparently, a key hub for the pony express....and it probably played an important communications role for the area during it short time in 'business.'

Neat monument.

The monument is an impressive sculpture, and the descriptive panels provide a good history of the pony express. There’s even a small cabin and corral to let viewers understand the living and working conditions of both animals and riders, and the isolated location recaptures the historical era. While the site might not be worth driving well out of your way, if it’s near your route, I would recommend a stop.

If you drive out just for this I think you might be disappointed, but if you are visiting Heritage Park before or after this visit it is worth the drive.

There is a pony express station here on the grounds also, which is nice.

We saw the National Pony Express Monument which is located at This Is The Place Park. The Pony Express operated for 19 months in 1860-1861 to deliver mail and packages to the west. This is one of several statues and sites along the Pony Express trail.
