What a perfect Sunday drive, so many gorgeous views all the way up to Solitude! You typically aren't able to get through to Park City until May, same with not being able to stop on the side of the road after a certain point due to avalanches. Be sure to stop at The Silver Fork lodge for a bite on... More

Come here for skiing at every level. Come here for summer hikes for everyone. Come here for from Salt Lake and Park City. Come here to smell the hint of mint beside a mountain creek. Salt Lake's Wasatch front Big Cottownwood Canyon offers a glacial bowl at the top and a spectacular river-carved canyon to the views of Salt Lake... More

We had a large room overlooking the snow capped mountains. the room had a gas (wood look alike) fireplace, a microwave, utensils and a bed so comfortable that it induced a fabulous night's sleep. The staff, in particularly Pattie, were super friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast had everything and was fresh and well presented. We only spent two nights... More

Both big and little Cottonwood is a beautiful drive! Little Cottonwood has a lake at the top called Silverlake. It is small and you can easily walk around the boardwalk in 30 to 45 minutes max. Little Cottonwood is more closed whereas big Cottonwood is very open and very scenic. It is also less populated then Little Cottonwood Canyon.

We are staying in SE SLC but we're still surprised how fast we made it to the 8500' top. Great drive and views. They say Brighton is the oldest in the state.

This was a wonderful scenic drive outside of Salt Lake City. I should have taken my time more to appreciate the scenery, but with high snow banks with was difficult to pull off the road. It's worthwhile to note that the area can be restricted to AWD with snow tires/chains if there is fresh snowfall. I lucked out and was... More

Having lived here beginning in the later 70's this place was magical and set the tone for what it was like to live near a area that provided wilderness experience close in. Over the years of course Salt Lake in general has grown leaps and bounds and this place is only amazing on NON weekends and NON holidays as it... More

I regularly visit this canyon, pretty much all year (though access after a snow storm is limited.) There are great hiking trails (suitable for all levels of fitness), great picnic locations, beautiful scenery for photography or just to enjoy nature.
