Not worth your time. We tried to login and find our ancestry but it requires extensive family information such as your parents, grandparents, great grandparents birthdays and places of birth. Would recommend ancestry.com instead.

We have a family member who has done some research already and have a tree started on Ancestry.com. I did the ancestry DNA test and got some results I was not expecting. We were able to get more information after this visit. The volunteers were extremely helpful. I agree with the other posters about doing some homework and bringing information... More

My husband and I stopped in out of curiosity to search for our ancestors. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and assisted our searches. We only had 20 minutes to search, as it was closing time. I traced my family back to Germany starting in the year 1625! My husband didn't have any luck. If we had planned better... More

That the LDS Family History Library has no match as a source for world-wide family history research was brought home during our recent week long visit there. I have been doing research almost daily for over 40 years and wanted to use the FHC to try to find the long-sought answers to our most difficult questions. My wife "went with",... More

My wife is a family history fanatic. We came here to look for things she has been looking for online for years. We were able to find things in a matter of hours at this place. It is a one of a kind treasure. If you are trying to find out about your ancestors, this is the place. Several hotels... More

We spent 5 hours in the Family History Library researching our family trees. We are both novice researchers. We entered the Library and were greeted with very energetic volunteers who directed us to the appropriate floor. We were then each paired with a delightful and knowledgeable volunteer who tutored us personally all afternoon. We both left thrilled with our new... More

Wish I was more prepared with family information as this place is the place to learn about your history. Everyone I met there was very friendly and helpful.

First, I'll start with a disclaimer, Family History is one of my favorite hobbies; but, for the merely curious or the seasoned pro there is no better place to dig the roots of your family tree than the Family History Library of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Second, it really is free; there is no charge and... More
