    Great Horseback Riding Experience
Took my son horseback riding here for his birthday, he’d been wanting to ride a horse for a long time. We had a wonderful time, the views are incredible. I can’t wait to do it again with the whole fam! Thanks Nicole & James!!

    Great horses and wonderful views!
We had a wonderful time on the Utah Trail Ride! I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially novice riders. It was an easy trail and the horses were very well-trained and relaxed. We saw beautiful scenery and even a few mule deer. Our guide, John, was very knowledgeable about the area and reassured me about the horses and what to do along the trail. I would definitely do this again and recommend to anyone who wants to take a horseback ride in the area.

Plenty of history and fun at This is the place Heritage Park
Great place for history and kids. Thought we would just be walking around but there were many children’s activities that my 12 year old enjoyed, including build your own cabin, panning for gold, and bead making.leather stamping and other activities. Petting zoo and animals. Tons of history. We were there all day but it could be a shorter trip. Visitors get to learn about the history of the early pioneers that settled Utah. I was touched to tears hearing the stories along the pioneer children’s memorial path and seeing all the names of the children that died on the trail. It was a wonderful visit. My husband thought it was a little over priced, 18.00 adult admission, but for the activities available and history and time spent, I thought the price for value was appropriate. If we lived in Utah, I enjoyed it so much I would get an annual pass since many special events throughout the year.

    What a great experience!
My family had such a great experience on our trail ride. We arrived at the barn and the owner, James was waiting for us outside to greet us. We had a first timer 11 year old and James made him feel completely comfortable and safe. We were offered helmets which was appreciated. We took a nice relaxing ride while our guides pointed out areas of interest, facts and details about our horses and how much they enjoyed working for James. It is clear how well everything is run and how happy the horses are. They love the walking the trail as much as I did.

Best Horse Trail Ride in Salt Lake
This is a good, laid back place, with nature and history. Its extremely well thought out, clean and every employee was sharp and lovely. The horse trail ride was the crown jewel. The horse staff is helpful, safe and experienced. Their horses are well cared for and barn was impeccable. I wish the park team had Native presenters.

    Horse trail ride
I took my kids on the horseback trail ride. We were greeted by James who was so very nice and friendly. Josh and James were absolutely wonderful and the horses were also very friendly. I would recommend this trail ride for any family or any kid. They explained certain points along the way, and it was just a nice and relaxing hour and a half. I would definitely recommend this.

    The best
"As a boy i grew up on a farm and have always loved riding horses. Having to leave it behind in my teenage years, I've been a cowboy without a horse for many moons. This trail ride gave me my horse back but if only for a day. Me and the boy had a phenomenal time. 10 out of 10 recommend to any residents of utah or individuals passing through, to take time out of your day and book yourself an amazing ride through the untamed wilds of utah at a very fair and reasonable price!! The man in charge is very well mannered with a little grit one would expect from a frontier man, but along with that was very understanding as well. The hired hand/ trail guides were very knowledgeable and easy to talk too and well mannered lads as well. As creatures of habits we tend to forget about the beauty all around us, so do yourself a favor and book a relaxing, beautiful and unforgettable trail ride through what is personally the most majestic scenery I've seen with my own two eyes.

There was a lot of building work going on which meant the visitor centre was shut. On top of this it was off peak meaning very little was open. This looks like it would be a great attraction when fully opened, I am not sure what was open on this day was worth the reduced fee or the bus ride but it has sparked my interest and I hope to return in summer some time

This is an very large park with lots to see and do. There are portions that are admission and other parts which you can enjoy without paying. We started at the National Pony Express Memorial and then proceeded around the park. There are lots of statues and monuments to see and informative plaques to learn from. There is also lots of space for kids to run. The Heritage Village is expansive and would be incredible when the entire staff is present. We found the Blacksmith Shop the most interesting as well as the cabinet and chair shop. Overall, this is a great place to visit. Admission is less than $15 for adults and $11 for children.

Trail rides at This is The Place State Park are a lot nicer than you'd expect from a park that is practically in downtown Salt Lake City. The ride goes through the Wasatch Mountain foothills with spectacular views of the city, the Great Salt Lake and the Wasatch Mountains. It goes past the historic pioneer village and on my ride we saw mule deer, squirrels, magpies and a hawk.

My 11 yr old granddaughter and I enjoyed the day together horseback riding and experiencing the variety of activities the park offers. Hours went by quickly as we explored the many historical displays along with the outside activities given to remind this generation there is a grand difference between a covered wagon and an air conditioned car while traveling from one city to another. :)
The grounds were nicely maintained and presented an inviting atmosphere.
The employees giving the horseback trail rides were very kind and informative.
Looking forward to another visit!

I booked a 1-hour trail ride, so my wife and I came a little early to check out the village, monument, etc. Everyone was so kind, and the displays were good. It seemed a little “campy,” but if you have children, little ones will enjoy it. And if you don’t have children, the price for your trail ride includes admission to it all, so it’s worth whatever time you want to give to it.

As for the trail ride itself, it was fantastic! The stable owner and his assistant took us for the ride. They were patient, informative, and very kind. And, the horses were gentle and easy to ride. The views of the Salt Lake valley were spectacular.

Thanks for a great experience!

The trail ride was awesome! As an experienced rider I thought I might be bored but it was so fun! My husband is a new rider and had just as much fun. The horses were sweet and the trails were really interesting and the views of salt lake were breathtaking. The guide was knowledgeable and you can tell the horses are treated well! 10/10 would recommend!

Can’t really say one specific thing was my favorite, the hole experience was fantastic and James makes a great tour guide. I hadn’t rode in 15 years and it was breath taking. Very therapeutic, everything goes away just you and the horse, I would highly recommend James to anyone even if you don’t like horses don’t pass this opportunity up because I guarantee you you’ll like it then. The horses are very well trained and behaved.

I enjoyed this trail ride with this company. Very organized, friendly, and bold giving of instructions to help us all have a great experience. There was a point we all stopped and I really appreciated the owner taking the time to take a picture of us all with our groups and texting it to us. The instructions on what to do for going uphill, downhill, getting on and off the horse, what to do if the horse stopped to eat, how to tell your horse or stop and go, etc…we’re really helpful. I used a a stair stepper to get on the horse and the owner helped us all off the horse. I loved this trail ride so much!!! My horse Cowboy, listened really well to me and was really sensitive to my commands. I really appreciated that. He was a good boy!!! I loved that horseback riding was offered at This is the Place Heritage Park because it’s not far at all from where I live and the grounds are set up to show what SLC what of looked when the pioneers came to The Valley. Very special. The owner gave us some of the history that has been preserved on the site from the pioneers. Such a special place. I had so much fun!!! The rides are year round. I’m looking forward ro doing this again.
