Don't go here expecting to see anything about Harriet Tubman. If you like poor examples of african-american art, by all means, go. They are really trying, and I love to support museums, but this is not worth a long drive. I'd only suggest this if you happen to be in the area already. They offer AAA discount. You can see... My husband and I made a day trip to Macon to visit the Big House and the Tubman Museum. We always enjoy the Big House but this was our first visit to the Tubman Museum and this will definitely be added to our semiannual visit to Macon. What a beautiful structure and the exhibits were on the scale of the... More

My friend and I spent about 2 hours visiting all the exhibits in this beautiful museum. Info on the life of Harriet Tubman is just one part of its exhibits. The art was wonderful. Otis Redding fans must watch the comprehensive video of his too short career. A worthwhile way to pass an afternoon.

I enjoyed my time at this museum. It is a lovely place in a great location. The staff was informative and answered my questions. I didn't think there would be as much art on display as there was, but it was well done and nicely arranged. The seating at the Otis Redding video tribute left a lot to be desired.... More

Stopped by on a day in Macon. The building is very impressive and has a lot to see. Some of the exhibits are a little depressing but give you insight of what some of the black people went through in the past. Welll worth a tour.

This is a new museum. It is spacious and well laid out. The first level had some heartbreaking banners about civil rights. The second floor had a special exhibit about Otis Redding, his life and his music. It was entertaining and informative.

The building is new and the museum has mostly photos and pictures. In the rotunda they are showing art that is very interesting to say the least! Love the bottle cap art! Went to view Harriet Tubman and that again was mostly photos and prints but interesting how they were laid out and explained.

What an awesome place, it holds the history of so many black Americans who contributed to our wonderful nation..It also tells the story of the resilience and courage of those who refuse to remain a slave and fought for their freedom!!!

This is a must see for all ages! The Otis Redding exhibit showcased his life as the amazing singer that he was! The Harriet Turman exhibit was eye opening! She was a true humanitarian.

We found this museum to be very interesting. They had a room dedicated to Ms Tubman. Also lots of interesting art work throughout the museum Information on local musicians that made it big including Little Richard's first Piano The staff was very friendly and helpful
