This activity is highly weather dependent. So, know you're taking that risk. However, if you are lucky enough to be able to get up there, then you're in for a magical experience. It is so cool climbing through the crevices, drinking water from the streams of water and the view are amazing. You won't regret doing this.

The guides are friendly and knowledgeable but if you get the guided walk, you are literally taking a hike to the glacier. Granted some of the hike is off the marked path but not a ton so it just feels like something you could do by yourself and spend your money elsewhere. I wish I had splurged on the glacier... More

The experience on the glacier was marvellous, our guide was top notch, and the general organisation of things was excellent. Thoroughly recommended.

Weather dependent activity. I did not get to do the heli hike (due to heavy fog). There was no other slots available for the next 2 days. A goodie bag is given which includes: a draw-string bag, a bottle of water, a chocolate bar, a lip balm & a SPF30 sunscreen. The heli hikes will include free admisison into the... More

They provided an exceptional experience and riding in a helicopter to land on a glacier was an absolute thrill. We glacier hiked for three hours and climbed through little caves and tunnels and it was breathtaking. We felt very safe and in excellent hands. MUST DO!

Our guide, Harry, was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He took great care of us, and I felt very safe on our hike. We had plenty of time to take in the scenery, learn about the geology of the area, take pictures, and rest along the way. I got a real feeling for the dynamic nature of the glacier. It was a... We had a group of 4 and paid $75 to go on the so called Valley Walk. The public can do the same walk for free, and get closer to the glacier face for free. Just drive there, park in the car park and walk the well formed track. What a scam. Didn't we feel like fools dressed in the... More

We had an amazing time on the glacier. Nick was an outstanding guide and the whole team made safety a priority. Make sure you spend two nights in Franz Josef so if you're trip is cancelled due to weather than you can go the following day. Morning trips seemed better while we were there, but it may depend on the... More

This is really a must do for a trip to New Zealand. Had the perfect sunny day to get on the glacier after a series of rainy poor weather. Wade did an excellent job managing our group of mixed skill sets. Only suggestion would be a quick stop for water or a snack, we were all famished by the end.

Such a shame that we found this trip disappointing and not worth the money. The glacier was great to see and I loved the helicopter trip up and back but we otherwise spent a couple of hours mainly waiting for the group in front of us to move along (from the point we booked in, on the glacier itself and...
