    A late autumn adventure!
A great couple of days in late autumn glorious weather. Biked it (on a conventional bike) from both ends to a mid point and return. So I've biked it twice!! Doing it in both directions gives a varied perspective. Not too proud to get off and push when the going gets a bit tough for a gold card holder!! I set out as soon as the sun was getting up above the hills so there weren't a lot of other users around. Congratulations and thanks to everyone involved in the concept, creation and upkeep of this trail! I will certainly be making a donation.

    Lake Dunstan trail
Fantastic ride along the lake side. Cool scenery and structures along the way (not to mention the wineries). Easy for groups or solo cyclists. Clyde is a must stay town too.

    Beautiful riding the Dunstan
Loved the trail. Only had time to do from Bannockburn to the base of the Cairnmuir ladder. The trail is in good condition. We rode it in the mid afternoon so not many people to contend with which was nice. The views are just breathtaking. Would do the rest of the trail next time down south.

Perfect way to stay active on holiday, spend time with family and enjoy the breathtaking scenery NZ has to offer
My family loved the Lake Dunstan trail. Three teens in tow, e-bikes, and some lovely weather. Scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Some challenging hills that were a breeze due to e-bikes. Stopped at a gorgeous winery, Carrick, along the way for a drink and a bite to eat. The Trail Journeys staff were very friendly and helpful at the start and the finish. We all had a great day out. Make sure you pack a little first aid kit as one of our kids stacked it and we were unprepared for that so had to rely on other cyclists. Brilliant day out, and highly recommend!

Wow wow what an amazing day. Harder than we thought but on e-bikes was all fine. We stopped for morning tea at the winery and lunch at the boat on the water. It was a super hot day so once we came into the Clyde sailing area, we got off the bikes and straight end. This was an added extra to our Otago Trail Ride that we did before starting and was the highlight. Will definitely do it again. Bike it now organised it as part of our overall trip and made it easy. Refer to review on Otago trail for more info on that.

Extremely scenic in the autumn. Lots of work has gone into creating this cycle trail. The coffee boat at the bottom of Cainmore Ladder is a great stop. Views, good trail surfaces and good signage all add to the experience. Slightly technical on the narrow sections, and best to have had some cycling experience before doing this trail.

Beautiful Trail, the elevations after the coffee boat are not for the faint of heart!! An e-bike would have made it easier from Cairnmuir Ladder. Make sure to ring your bell around the precarious corners where visibility is limited for people coming from the other direction.

Great trail (and package from SheBikesHeBikes) but, and this is a big but … there were far too many soft e-Bikers who have no clue about bike etiquette and ride in the center of the trail because they’re too terrified of the hazards of this wonderful trail. At least half of the e-Bikers out there today had no business attempting this difficult a trail and wouldn’t have lasted more past the first 5k without their motors. So, if you actually believe that a bike trail should be for, you know, bikes that require pedaling or if you might lose your mind after the first 10 or 11 e-Idiots come flying around a blind corner on the wrong side of the trail … maybe look for a trail that isn’t on the bucket list for seniors and others who haven’t been on a bike in 20 years. We realize that the tour operators make more money from renting e-Bikes than hardtails, so it’s good for the local economy but … be warned of with whom you’ll be sharing the trail. Hope to ride the trail again if, and when, they have “no e-Bike Days”.

We did this from Clyde to Cromwell on N-bikes in a leisurely 4.5h. The trail is well constructed albeit narrow in places making 2 way passing tricky. You climb from Dam level up 120m twice on this 42km trail.

The views over the Lake Dunstan and surrounding mountains is simply stunning. There's numerous explanation boards detailing the history of settlement, and the construction of the Dam.

We were able to use the Intercity Bus to preposition vehicle at the end (daily Cromwell to Clyde (Dep 8.55am, Arv 9.15am, $23pp). That way we had no timing issues we had to meet once we started.

Very nice trail, not easy to drive but it is worth to make the tour. Beautiful landscape.
We started at Cromwell and finished in Clyde
