This place is a hidden gem that deserves more credit and recognition than it already has! Great part of your far north itinerary- take a dive into fern flats swim hole before hitting up this place further down the road, amazing pottery work among magical lush greenery. Nobody was home so we chose what we liked and took an internet... More

Fern Flat is so cool and you can get pottery and go swimming and then have a picnic and then go back home a thing about why that was so cool.

No one was home when we visited, but my email in advance had warned me of this. We bought some love works, total $95nzd - I was a little worried about leaving cash, but obviously... More

I love the pottery here. It's earthy natural themes and beautiful shapes. Excellent for wall hangings too.

Its a long drive to get to this amazing peaceful place, but well worth the visit. Many man pieces of pottery which in a town or city would be much more expensive and much less of. Gravel road so take your time, stop and watch locals swimming in lovely river waterfall. Also back on tarseal stop at Bush Fairy Dairy... More

Fern Flat has been an artist's colony for many years. The pottery was built in and around an old schoolhouse, and retains much of the charm of the hippie artist' generation. Plenty of gizmos made by Rod and his wife, and placed around the property, that serve as windchimes, statuary, etc. A handmade forge is used to bake his creations... More

Went to find a far north present for my partner who didn't get to come on holiday, found the perfect pottery fish here, the pottery is just Devine and slightly different from anything else around , prices range from just 10$ to big installations for your wall for a few hundred. The folks who own it are just sweet hearts... More

The drive out to this little pottery is up a winding gravel road but don't let that put you off, the pottery on display and for sale is excellent and you will want to take some home with you, well priced and very well made this is one of the best little potteries we have visited, well worth the drive...
