One of the most scenic walk to go in New Zealand is free. Definitely a must do. Preferably choose a sunny day and spend some time there. There are very good paid activities there but the walk itself worth the visit.

Drove here along the mountain road through the Coromandel forest. Along the way, massive hedges 20-30ft protecting Chinese gooseberries or kiwis as they became known. Hahei is a beautiful beach but nothing compared to Cathedral Cove. The best in NZ. We walked there through wonderful...More

Even in winter it is a spectacular sight. Definitely worth the walk to get there. Beautiful waterfal and secondary cave - amazing.

Our fist day in New Zealand brought us to Hai Hei beach & Cathedral Cove. Absolutely stunning! Just like in all the pictures we had been looking at. The hike was not difficult, although there were a few steep parts, but the views were completely...More

This is a fair walk with some fantastic views. There are one or 2 steep bits but just take your time. The final destination makes any hard work worth the effort. Try to coincide your visit with low tide so that you are able to...More

Be prepared for a 30 minute walk on a track from the car park down to the cove, it is steep in parts. The car park itself is quite small, so I can imagine during the summer will be pretty manic, so have a back...More

We visited out of season (a Monday in mid Autumn) but the car park at the start of the walk was near full. There are other parking options back towards town but the cove is already a reasonable walk from the top car park -...More

Although it says 40minutes there you could easily do it quicker if you are used to walking a bit. Well marked, easy underfoot path, with some up and down hills as well as steps. Great views at the end and a popular swimming spot. There...More

It's 45-50 minutes and some steep uphill and downhill parts to the paved path. But the cove itself is magic. Go there before the crowds as early in the AM as there is light.

The car park is quite small so you need to get there early or be prepared to wait, or have a long walk to get to the start. The walk is long and there are some steep climbs and a number of steps, the views...More

The walk itself is well paved. At the end, though, is a series of stairs. You'd have to carry the pram/baby down those stairs. But the view is remarkable.

We saw the water taxi arriving at the Cove. I don't remember a jetty for the passengers to disembark. You'd need to check when you drive trough Hahei on your way to the Cove. Sorry this response is going to be too late for... More
