One must understand the difference between a canopy and a true jungle. This is a remarkable place to see in a modern world. The sounds and sights are marvelous. There is an opportunity to see beautiful birds and flowers and animals. There is the river...More

You pay $5 to take the cable care (tarabita) to take you to the beginning of the hike. The trail is easy, I think between 5-7 kms only and it goes down all the way to the bottom of the trail where a few waterfall...More

We were staying in Quito and did a day tour to Mindo. It was a long drive, especially with kids, but we enjoyed the hike and swam in the river. Fun bridge to cross with great photo opportunities. Make sure you take your swimsuits and...More

A rich type of forest with extensive bird life, other animals and plants, is realtive easy accesible. Even in a day visit you can get a reasonable impression of this kind of habitat. Recommendation is to hire a guide for bird-watching, but you need to...More

The drive to the Forrest area is quite twisty and mountainous but very worth the trip. It's about 2 hours from downtown Quito. Our guide for the day was Lincoln Jabra and he made the trip a fantastic one! We would highly recommend having a...More

Pay for the cabalgata tour in the Mindo Canopy. I also recommend hiking about 10k to the cascada in the canopy and stopping along the way at the bird reserve for hummingbirds.

This was by far the best bird diversity site I visited during 5 days birding around mindo. If you get tired of walking the trails the bird feeders provide great hummingbird numbers.

It more than two hours hour trip from Quito by car. You have a very nice scenery after you have left the city, partly in the cloud forest itself. The cable car tour in the tree tops was short but fascinating experience. The walk down...More

The cloud forest is an amazing, calm place. Perfect for hiking and for nature lovers. You can visit 7 waterfalls quite easily. We have visited 6 of them and spent approx 4 hours in the forest.

Mindo is truly one of the most beautiful spots in Ecuador. Two days are ideal to enjoy the nature in a relaxed manner, however, if you're short on time, you can enjoy its best spots in a day.

Sorry. We are a mature couple. We visited Mindo without a guide. Sorted ourselves out once there and didn't feel we needed a guide. Hopped on a bus in Quito and stayed for 4 days. Loved it. Hope you do.
