This morning Marcelo and his lovely wife picked me up at 5:30 a.m. to take me to a private bird reserve to see the amazing red/black Cock of the Rock birds. We then continued up towards the waterfalls and suddenly stopped at a house (in...More

We spent 2 mornings with Marcelo birding in and around Mindo. We ended up with close to 90 species. The majority spotted in the forest and within a few seconds he had the bird in the scope. I have been birding for many years but...More

We spent two mornings with Marcelo in Mindo and had a great time. A lot of things about Marcelo were impressive: his knowledge of the birds, his ability with the scope, his ability to mimic the calls and songs. Very clear how much he loves...More

Marcelo's ability to spot and hear birds at a great distance paid off on our recent trip to Northern Peru's Owlet and Huembo Lodges. We saw endemics that were new for each of us along with birds we saw last year in Southern Ecuador.

Are you the guy who posted the $30 review? Makes me wonder what happened. Perhaps if you had not paid before arriving then protocol is that a guide can take someone who has already paid? Its unclear to me if this is so... More
