- aussiewanderersSydney, Australia606 contributionsGOOD BEACH IN SALUBRIOUS SETTINGWhile the beach is acceptable, it is not as good as Kaapalani Beach to the northwest of Maui. However the resorts and shopping centre are a sight to see as it is the richer end of Maui with luxury goods shops (Gucci etc) to match. Almost everything is more expensibe here than elsewhere on the island.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 May 2024

I throughly enjoyed my short time viewing, and walking along the shore in the surf and fine black sand. Happy that I experienced it.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 August 2024
- Chris T35 contributionsHidden GemHidden gem. We stayed in Kihei and went to this beach a few times. Great spot, with plenty of parking available. It is surrounded by the four seasons and Marriott hotels and plenty of spots to grab a bite of you want to. The ocean was great, and allowed great boogieboarding.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 30 August 2024

We didn’t even get a cocktail a sandwich or a water and it was $197 per person very very unhappy with the cost. A rip offVisited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 September 2024

One of the best beaches on East Maui, this was both picturesque and had all the modern facilities and convenience you want at a beach. Hotel staff were helpful despite us not being guests at the resort. Waters were reasonably calm so ok for swimming and snorkelling (best at the south end). We went kayaking which was $50 per hour for the two of us which seemed reasonable and was well worth it. For food there was a beach shack for cheap fare and high end restaurants tied to the resort.

This was my favorite beach in Maui! The sand is super fine and soft and the waves are nice and mild. It's a decent sized beach but it does get crowded. We came here twice - one day the water was perfectly calm and clear. We swam over to the rocks on the left side to snorkel and it was pretty cool. The current is definitely stronger over there, so be careful. We saw a decent number of fish, but we also saw a sea turtle that swam right by us. So beautiful!
The second day the weather was a little iffy so the waves were slightly bigger and the water was a little more choppy but still absolutely fine to swim or just to float and relax, enjoying the beautiful scenery around you! I highly recommend this beach!

Great beach in a very nice location (some kind of a Beverly Hills of Maui). The beach is clean, with great sand and smooth and sandy entrance in the ocean.
There are just a few spots in the shade, but still better than other, while you can also rent umbrellas & chaise longs (50 $ per pack or 30 $ just the umbrella).
Seems like the turtles like to swim in that area as there’s a big chance you stumble upon at least one turtle swimming in the water close to the land.

Only reason you will be able to visit this beach is because all beaches in Maui are public!! This is a scallop-shaped bay, bordered by upscale resorts for Four Seasons, Marriott and Waldorf Astoria.
This beach is crowded with dozens of resort loungers and if you're not staying at one of the resorts that line the beach, then getting to this beach is painful as well. The resorts do not have public access lanes available to access the beach and you have to walk through the endless resorts to get to the beach. The public parking situation is not great either. Don’t make the mistake of thinking the beach chairs and umbrella are there for public use.
Also, good luck in moving around to finding some private more secluded spot. If you aren’t staying in one of the resort then I’d recommend to find some other beach to go to if you don’t want to feel like second class citizens invading into first class citizen’s space.

This is a popular beach at the north of the island. You will find restrooms and picnic tables. There are rocks you could cliff jump off. Depending of the season you can find big waves for surfers or a most peaceful seating for you and your family. Parking can get tricky so get here early and you will be fine.

Wailea beach is one our favourites, but when we arrived in early September 2023 the access to the free parking lot is closed until February 2024 while they do construction and improvements to the parking lot. Not sure if any on the high end hotels are providing parking or access. The beach is still open and we were able to use the Wailea beach walk to get there, but it is a long walk.

We stayed by Wailea beach for 5 nights and since we are from FL (close to excellent beaches), we were not much impressed. One day from my room, we could see whales or the "spray" since we faced the water, which was really cool. Both Marriott and Grand Wailea also have good Luau. I liked the walking path by the beach but beach was a bit crowded and very small in my humble opinion. If you are from FL, you may not care for this beach.

We had access to this public beach when we stayed at the Four Seasons so we would take a morning walk and also spent part of one of our days hanging out there. The water is not too rough as it is protected a little by the cove. The sand is very soft and there are places that you can get some shade under a tree. Keep in mind it is the beach for 4 area properties so you will see areas with umbrellas and chairs but that is for the hotel guests only. So you will have to bring your own things if you want those amenities or a place to sit.

We visited the morning we left Maui so we only stayed for an hour or so. There are definitely crowds but the beach is beautiful and the water is gorgeous. There were people/places renting out chairs, umbrellas, etc. though we didn't inquire about prices. It looked as though a lot of people brought their own though!
We found public beach parking at the south end of the beach, just south of the Waldorf Astoria resort. Obviously there must be plenty more parking as there were hundreds of people at the beach and this parking lot held no more than 30 cars.

Is it true that Maui Hawaii will reopen in August 2020.
Many people are saying about this Here its mentioned too hawaiinewz
I am considering Dec-2020 But dates are adjustable.

The simple answer is no. This is a worldwide pandemic. I work in the infectious disease world. Until they understand this virus further , the infection rate , the transmission rate , the mortality and morbidity rate , the ability for countries to adhere to flatten the curve and until a vaccine is brought to market ( several months or possibility a year ) ... there is no good prediction on when this pandemic will end. We own a property in Maui and can’t even go to our own property.

A review mentioned that you can rent umbrellas and towels for this beach...where can we do that? Thanks!

Which beach in Wailea is good to swim and has no rocks? Also I’m torn between Wailea and Kaanapali? I’m on a cruise so I can only visit one beach!
Written 27 March 2019
The drive to Kaanapali is beautiful, and much more tropical. You can find beach on either side of the island that doesn’t have rocks. Wailea is awesome also, the beaches are great. The wailea end is better for shopping and beach, where Kaanapali is more scenic, it just depends what you are after.

I use a walker and am worried about handicap parking and beach access. I need beach with calm waters in December. Any recommendations?
Written 2 March 2019
Wailea beach does have handicap parking but it is very limited. There is a pathway down to the beach. Easily accessible. Baby beach in Lahaina has street parking and is very very easily accessible. The sand there is more firm at baby Beach and possibly easier to walk on. What a beautiful place!! Have fun.

What the weather like in late June?
Written 22 June 2018
Beautiful. Maui is perfect everyday of the year. Slightly more humid in summer, but similar all year round.

You can always go get in your car and drive to Makawao which is a cool little town that is "upcountry"...or you can just walk next door to the hotel and shop at the mall.

There is actually a parking lot between the 4 Seasons and The Grand Wailea, that's where we parked. We were told to get there early because it fills up fast!! We got there around 8:45 am!!
