A drive up to Mount Tamalpais is worth the trip. A narrow winding road especially up towards the top. Once at the top, the views of Marin, the Bay, and the City are spectacular. Many cyclists trek up the mountain for a great workout and...More

My. Tam is my all out fave place for a vigorous hike followed by a relaxing hike both with spectacular 360 views.

Muir Woods was my original destination but I missed the turn-off. This turned out to be a good mistake. Since the destination was not the Park, "settling" for stops along the side of road led to post-card views of San Francisco and her Bay. Many...More

Travel here frequently while riding my road bike around Marin County. For bikers offers long climbs for both road and mountain bikers with beautiful vistas throughout your ride. For drivers, offers stunning views and many pull outs for photo opportunities, just be careful of the...More

We walked up and stood looking at Marin and both bridges. This time of year you can find days sunny and clear. We were in tshirts and warm. Not always the case, bring both sunscreen and a jacket for if the fog rolls in, immediately...More

Once you completed the very curvy road, you reach mount Tamalpais peak. The view is breathtaking! I would recommend to take the circle way around the peak. Easy for anybody to walk and enjoy the view from all sides of the mountain. Don't go on...More

I spend a lot of time hiking and biking on Mt. Tam. There is so much to do, incredibly variety, and extraordinary views. Super accessible by car, bike, foot, and bus.

I camped here as a Boy Scout, which made it great to visit it again as an adult. Thankfully, little has changed in all these decades. Where else can you get ocean views on one side and Bay Area views on the other? Spend the...More

What a gorgeous place. The views are amazing. We just drove through and took it all in. I am sure the hiking is amazing, there were trails everywhere.

We didn't have time to hike Mt. Tam's many trails but the view from up there is absolutely worth the drive. From its peak you can see the city and the ocean.

No, it was on the Cataract Trail. The road to Bolinas is also very scenic, and I encourage exploring that too. I was fortunate to go at a time when we were having record rainfall.

Or you could drive up to the "back end" by the Mountain View Inn and park for free. Great sunrises from there as well.
