Wonderful way to get a different perspective on the memorial but don't be deceived. The trail is only .6 miles but it involves more than 400 steps.

The rock structure carvings are amazing and so well done. Admission is affordable at $11 parking only and it last 1 year. The faces are best lite for pictures in the morning due to facing the east. I went in the evening as well and the pictures were good and the lighting ceremony was fun to see.

We enjoyed the different statues, but parking was difficult even mid week in September. Also it was time consuming to cross the road at each corner with all the traffic and the stop lights.

This is well worth the effort if you are already here. It's an absolute must if you love photography. There are so many different views of the monument. Some are obvious and some are hidden opportunities. There are MANY stairs and it's quite a workout, but it's doable for anyone in reasonable shape. There are places to rest along the... More

Not easy - lots of stairs. Make sure to ask about the nature trail back to the parking area from the artist's studio if you don't want to take the stairs back to the viewing terrace.

There is a warning that this is a strenuous trek. We are both in our sixties and not that fit and we did it. It is well worth doing the trail because you get some great views of the monument. I would recommend this 30 minute walk.

This is the best way to see the faces...the sculpture is best seen from the various angles of the trail. This trail gives you multiple perspectives and is well worth the walk!

Lots of great views up the the different presidents from different angles. We had perfect lighting and when we got to the Studio it was great to so his original. I just wish they could get a little bit closer. I know there will be restrictions on that but it would make it perfect!

The trail gives you a chance to see Rushmore a little closer and from all angles. You can get some good pictures while getting some exercise as there are a lot of stairs. The trail takes you to a building that houses the scale model that was used during sculpting.
