At only one kilometer long, this trail should’ve been a no-brainer my last two visits here but I had never seen it until last June. I recognized it later on the movie “National Treasure: Book of Secrets.” With easy ups and downs between rocks and...More

It's part of the whole experience when visiting Mount Rushmore. Don't skip it. Depending on which way you start (left or right), you'll be required to walk up steps but what's a little exercise. There are excellent photo ops along the trail.

This well-constructed trail is easily walked. It does have a fair amount of steps, but also has plenty of railings and support along the way. There are fantastic views of the four faces to behold on this gorgeous loop, and several places to stop and...More

The Presidential Trail gets you as up close and personal to those majestic sculptures as Park Service allows! An easy to moderate walk with some elevation gain along with stair climbing, this trail allows you to view the presidents from a myriad of viewing perspectives....More

Be sure to take this easy path up to get a closer view of the presidents. There was even a small cave where you can get a peek of them. We even ran into a mountain goat on the path. We only walked up to...More

Great walk! We did the audio tour and learned so much! Their book store inside isn't nearly as big. It had great puzzles though. You can see Mt Rushmore from every angle and quite close up if you take this trail walk.

After you spend time in the main part of Mount Rushmore, be sure to walk along Presidential Trail. It can be a bit strenuous (lots of stairs on one half of the trail) but there really are some very picturesque areas with which to see...More

Sure, Mt. Rushmore impresses viewed straight-on from the deck. But take the time for the trail to see different angles, as if each face in turn were looking straight at you. If you start the trail to your left (as you stand on the deck...More

Depends on your stamina. I recommend clockwise, but either way works fine. My reasoning is that clockwise takes you to the close in viewing points sooner. And sometimes you will see mountain goats along that section of... More
