First time walking the trail and it was great! Very nice views, some steps, but nothing outrageous. Take the 15-20 mins and check it out!

Has some stairs, otherwise easy for anyone. More a pathway than a trail. Good closeup views and historical info and artifacts. Saw a mountain goat at base of carving adding to experience.

If you want a full Mount Rushmore experience, walk the Presidential trail. Alrhough it is only 1/4 mile, portions are strenuous, as there are 250 stairs down, leading to the sculptor's studio. The purpose of the trail is to go visitors a chance to look...More

The monument is pretty impressive itself, but do the walk around it!! It is amazing. Some of the steps are a little rough. Do the portion of the trail with the ramp last. Your legs will thank you.

This was a nice trail and a good spot to view the hills and Rushmore. We took the easier side since it is a loop. I'm glad we did because there are a lot of steps. The kids liked it and so did we. At...More

It looked to be fun. Why not climb this hill? However, it was way more that I could handle. Too many pebbles and the hill was a bit too steep. Still, we were closer for a better picture of Mount Rushmore. It was fun, even...More

My family loved the Presidential Trail so much that my 7-year-old twins insisted we do it twice! They pretended to be taking pictures from every angle. If you can handle stairs, you should definitely do the trail! It enhances your view a bunch! Note: There...More

Clockwise or COUNTER clockwise? Most of the other comments state counter. Also, if you send up where you start, wouldn't it all be the same? Thanks.

Depends on your stamina. I recommend clockwise, but either way works fine. My reasoning is that clockwise takes you to the close in viewing points sooner. And sometimes you will see mountain goats along that section of... More
